I saw this thread, and i automaticly thought of the Pope Hey look, a dumb, looks like that guy is a christan :allears:
Oh right because Spain's past is just so innocent.
I saw this thread, and i automaticly thought of the Pope
I hate people who think that the Pope was a Nazi. He tried running away from the Hitler Youth multiple times and he's stated many times that he hated the Nazis.
Oh right because Spain's past is just so innocent.
May as well dig up the proponents of the spanish inqiusition and slap their corpses around for justice.

How old is this guy? He was born in the 1920's? He has to be in his 90's by now. I do not see why we are persuing a trial and prosecution of a man that old who committed and assisted in atrocities that happened over half a century ago. Even when he's found guilty, what do they do? Give him a life sentence and put him in jail? Not to be pessimistic but I would like to point out he'll be dead within the next decade regardless.
Some how kept going back though, eh?
What are you suggesting? That he ran away and just came back and then just ran away again? You do know that Nazi Germany was a police state and that he would have been picked up by Gestapo or whoever handled the Hitler Youth.
These stories aggravate me.
:godwin:
It's a thread about nazis, Godwin can't apply.
The guards at concentration camps were all SS and they were the main cause of the brutality that occurred there. They all deserve to pay for their crimes. Yes, you had a choice to be SS.
No. Many of the people in the SS were brainwashed, so you cant just kill them when they are elderly. Especially when they were brainwashed. Also, SS were not all killers. the SS was also one of the major fighting forces of Nazi Germany, not just people who killed innocents. Its like saying that everyone in the american army deserves to die because a soldier killed a prisoner in guantanamo, or a soldier killed an innocent civilian.

You can indoctrinate someone, but they still have a choice.

Reminds me of the ending for the enclave remnants if the NCR wins in new Vegas.
Oh please, some one give him a pardon. This kind of stuff is insane.
What's funny is that Spain supported Germany by sending supplies and whatnot in WWII.
How the hell do we still have death sentence in Spain.
I don't see anyone hunting down old American pilots and commanders for this: nor this [editline]16th January 2011[/editline]
What's funny is that Spain supported Germany by sending supplies and whatnot in WWII.
Germany did the same thing during the Spanish Civil War. It was basically a testing ground for a lot of planes and tanks.
The victors always write the history. We all seem to regard THAT as heroism if i'm not mistaken. Hypocrisy on a global level.
To give him a death sentence after all these years would be more revenge than justice.
But revenge IS sweet.
But revenge IS sweet.
Fair enough.
The victors always write the history. We all seem to regard THAT as heroism if i'm not mistaken. Hypocrisy on a global level.
Had the Axis won the war, the Americans would've been tried for massive human rights abuse against the Japanese. The British, for bombing German cities and killing thousands of civilians. The Russians, for raping and pillaging East Germany.
Why do people keep going after war criminals from over half a century ago? What good will that do for society today?
Why WOULDN'T they? There's no time limit on trying someone for murder or rape, why should there be for genocide? Do we really want to send the message that you can commit as horrible a crime as you like, and if you are able to elude capture for X number of years you can go about your business and not be punished?
There's absolutely no point in bringing him to trial, he was a fucking guard. He had no choice but to do what he was told.
There's absolutely no point in bringing him to trial, he was a fucking guard. If the governments of multiple countries are after him it's because he did something particularly horrific.
I like the words in this thread. Criminal War War Criminal Sounds pretty dangerous, just like toxic and waste; Toxic Waste!
Why WOULDN'T they? There's no time limit on trying someone for murder or rape, why should there be for genocide? You can't just say "Sorry mein Fuhrer, I don't want this job. No thanks." That's like punishing a civilian because a criminal put a gun to their head and forced them to be a getaway driver.
Bombing cities and purposely killing off millions of people for no reason aren't really comparable scenarios.
Do you know what those two pictures are? First one is the firebombing of Dresden, where Allied bombers purposely targeted civilians. Second on is firebombing of Tokyo, where Allied bombers purposely targeted civilians. These weren't aimed to destroy industry, or destroy military installations, these were meant to kill as many innocent people as possible.
