They already have Call Of Duty, Assassin's Creed. and other big franchises on their consoles. Also Nintendo removed a big feature out of the 3DS because of one incident, do you really think they would try to make M games themselves?
They have published rated M games before. Also I am pretty sure that didn't want to get mixed up in a child porn scandal or something. Also I wouldn't call swapnote a big feature
I think a new F-Zero, Starfox and Metroid will invigorate some interest. We haven't had a console F-Zero game since 2003.
A Star Fox reboot that shakes off the weird shit that got added to it during the gamecube years (Krystal, etc) or a F-Zero sequel would be amazing. I'd love a new Pilotwings game that isn't part of the Wii Sports series, Pilotwings 64 was the shit:
I think a new F-Zero, Starfox and Metroid will invigorate some interest in the Wii U. We haven't had a console F-Zero game since 2003 and a console Star Fox since 2005. The gap between Star Fox and F-Zero has been pretty large and I think new ones will get fans jumping in their boots
Of those three I think Metroid would be the most likely one to be make first because of how well it could use the gamepad compared to the other two.
The M rating doesn't really guarantee a good game, I think everyone learned this after the huge amount of brown/blurry FPS shovelware that happened on other consoles. What people want is just a larger variety of games in general.
I'm just saying that Nintendo needs to appeal to a wider audience than just children. Imagine an M rated Zelda game in a darker, realistic Hyrule. The thought of the possibilities gives me chills.
I'm just saying that Nintendo needs to appeal to a wider audience than just children.
You do realize that not all of the games they develop themselves are specifically for children, right
You do realize that not all of the games they develop themselves are specifically for children, right
Like?
Like?
Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda‎, Metroid, Smash Bros, just to name a few. They're not ultra-violent gorefests but they're meant for everyone.
Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda‎, Metroid, Smash Bros, just to name a few. They're not ultra-violent gorefests but they're meant for everyone.
They are all very "safe" games though.
What's wrong with "safe" games? Allowing a game to be open in a wide audience is generally a good thing.
They are all very "safe" games though.
Appealing to a wide audience like that doesn't mean they're making games for
just children.

As much as I'm interested in what he could be working on I'm more interested in the Monolith's X.
Yeah fair enough, X actually looks pretty cool and actually one of the few games what interest me on wii u.
Also Nintendo removed a big feature out of the 3DS because of one incident, do you really think they would try to make M games themselves?
Wait, what happened?
Wait, what happened?
People did anughty things with Swapnote.
I'm just saying that Nintendo needs to appeal to a wider audience than just children. Imagine an M rated Zelda game in a darker, realistic Hyrule. The thought of the possibilities gives me chills.
They always appealed to everyone. Why do you think there are so many people who have grown up with Nintendo and still playing their games?
I've played it before, and it's just not fun. I don't see why people like it so much.
"People like X. I don't like X, therefore it's bad."
What's wrong with "safe" games? Allowing a game to be open in a wide audience is generally a good thing.
I think it's more of an issue of the games coming off as being a rehash, even if they do mix up the gameplay. EDIT: I read the original post, Overly dark Zelda was already done, and for a while reception of it was lukewarm.
I'm thinking about buying this someday. I'd love another Metroid or F-Zero, but I doubt they would be able to add anything significant to the games. I mean, what can they do with F-Zero? They could add some sort of power-up system, but that'd be pretty ridiculous. There's really not much to add that'd make sense (that I can come up with, anyway) Same with Metroid. I'll be happy no matter what if any of them ever happen, but I'll be happier if they don't feel like forced remakes.
Well it just seems sad that the console's selling points are now "you'll get rehashes of zelda, mario, and smash bros". I like those games but there's no way I'd keep buying consoles to get new versions of them, the last nintendo console we had was a wii which my parents got because they had fun playing wii sports at their friends for an hour. It's basically sat completely unused in our living room since it was bought with like a minor gap when I got red steel 2
Your loss, the Wii has a great library of games both first and third party.
Your loss, the Wii has a great library of games both first and third party.
Which ones? The only two games I've played that were interesting on the wii in the slightest were red steel 2 and monster hunter tri. I still have a wii so hey if you got some games I've never heard of by all means tell me
Which ones? The only two games I've played that were interesting on the wii in the slightest were red steel 2 and monster hunter tri. I still have a wii so hey if you got some games I've never heard of by all means tell me
I'll list some third parties as I assume you've probably heard more about the first parties. No More Heroes 1 & 2 (japanese styled beat em up), Silent Hill Shattered Memories (one of my top 5 games of all time), Madworld (gory beat em up), Xenoblade: Chronicles (RPG and a bit pricey), The Conduit (FPS game with really solid controls), The Last Story (another action-rpg), Pandora's Tower (very odd game, I suggest looking it up), Muramasa: Demon Blade (2D hack and slash but absolutely amazing), Okami (great port from the ps2), Cursed Mountain (unique horror game with excellent graphics and setting), Obscure: The Aftermath (kind of shitty but still fun coop horror title), and there's probably a few others I'm missing. These were just some more mature titles that popped into my mind. What I really enjoy about Wii titles (and why it's my most played console) is that developers were able to make 3D games that took a lot of risks. They may not have paid off, but the games were more interesting and tried more new things than console games are doing now. Mostly the risky games now are Indie developed, and are usually in 2D. The Wii has a lot of interesting games, they may not be some of the best (I assure you though the games I listed are pretty solid overall), but they offered some pretty unique experiences. Don't forget about the library you can also build from gamecube titles, there are a lot of cool games you might have missed there too.
I'll list some third parties as I assume you've probably heard more about the first parties.
Fair enough, more than likely. Although I haven't played some of the big ones it's just because I'm so tired of the rehashes by this point I just can't. I still might try twilight princess at some point though.
No More Heroes 1 & 2 (japanese styled beat em up)
I heard this was alright but I dunno if it'd be worth a buy, the combat looks too simple when I'm used to stuff like devil may cry and dark souls and I've already seen a lot of the humour from random stuff on the internet.
Silent Hill Shattered Memories (one of my top 5 games of all time), Madworld (gory beat em up)
Not too big into horror games but noted. Madworld seemed to be in the same section as no more heroes for me, maybe fun for a bit but the combat doesn't seem good enough to draw me in
Xenoblade: Chronicles (RPG and a bit pricey)
It looks alright for a JRPG but still doesn't seem like it'd be that fun for me, I'm watching some gameplay videos and it seems like you cycle through attacks in a row of circles with the d-pad or something? Maybe if a friend has it I'll give it a try
The Conduit (FPS game with really solid controls)
I could not even list here how many bad things I have heard about this game including that it had the worst controls of any FPS in the past 10 years :v:
The Last Story (another action-rpg)
Actually have played this one, but it's kinda bizarre. The characters were funny but to attack enemies you just kinda ran against them and you were often just babysitting your mages while they did their 20s cast time. The multiplayer was pretty neat though
Pandora's Tower (very odd game, I suggest looking it up)
Now this looks cool, gonna look into this for sure!
Muramasa: Demon Blade (2D hack and slash but absolutely amazing)
Hey, looks like it could be fun, I'll check it out.
Okami (great port from the ps2)
Never tried it on my PS2 so I might check it out, I still have my PS2 though so I dunno if I'd rather just try it on PS2
Cursed Mountain (unique horror game with excellent graphics and setting), Obscure: The Aftermath (kind of shitty but still fun coop horror title)
Same deal as above, respect to the devs and all I'm just not really into horror games though maybe I'll get into them when the rift comes out
What I really enjoy about Wii titles (and why it's my most played console) is that developers were able to make 3D games that took a lot of risks.
I'm not seeing a lot of risks taken here, I mean there are a couple of odd gameplay choices but most of them are directly negative like TLS deciding to make you attack by walking at enemies rather than letting you time and control your swings which is one of the few things a wiimote is really good for.
Don't forget about the library you can also build from gamecube titles, there are a lot of cool games you might have missed there too.
True I guess but the few gamecube games people have told me to try I really haven't liked, so I'm not too eager for that. Metroid prime I got probably halfway through but never finished. In terms of consoles I went N64 -> PS2 -> xbox 360/wii.

shattered memories isn't really a horror game, more of just a narrative title. out of all the games on the list i highly recommend it, it's really one of the most unique titles i've ever played.
No More Heroes 1 & 2 , Mad World, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Super Smash Bros, Brawl, the listgoes on
My point was that the console was kind of becoming a rehash party zone, listing those is not really contradictory to my point. Trogdon got a few neat looking ones that I'll look into though. MH3 and Red Steel 2 still look like the biggest draws so far and were also the only ones that really made use of the wiimote, everything else easily could have been on another console with superior rendering and better controls. Red steel 2 used the controller for the thing it's really best for, making like a fake sword with a separate controller for movement, and monster hunter used the unique controller memory card feature so you could just store your character on the wiimote to play multiplayer split screen with your friends
shattered memories isn't really a horror game, more of just a narrative title. out of all the games on the list i highly recommend it, it's really one of the most unique titles i've ever played.
I guess I could check it out, though silent hill fans always tell me that everything but 2 is the worst thing ever 0/10 :v:
Call Of Duty 4 is a good game on Wii, and shouldn't be ignored because of the sequels. The Wii Remote really helps the game, and has semi co-op exclusive to it, but the visuals are much worse than the other versions. That's not to say it looks bad.
the most fogettable console launch since the Pong Machine 2000
A bit late, but I think you forgot about something even more recent: [thumb]http://blogs.rue89.com/sites/blogs/files/assets/image/2013/06/ouya_0.jpg[/thumb]
I guess I could check it out, though silent hill fans always tell me that everything but 2 is the worst thing ever 0/10 :v:
As a silent hill fan I still say its overall the best game. It uses the wiimote incredibly well. Some of the other games I listed do as well but shattered memories really just feels perfect with the wiimote. Also if you liked red steel you might enjoy Goldeneye, it's a surprisingly good shooter that I really liked. Metroid Prime 3 is great as well, though much more adventure based
It's probably been said before but just wait till the new smash bros and mario kart come out, they'll sell like hotcakes

Shooters need hyper fast response times and joysticks on controllers are bad enough compared to K&M, a wiimote is like going to war with a crippling disability :v:
