but pikmin sucks.
You know how people tell you an opinion can never be wrong? Well, they were wrong about that.
that's also on 3ds though.
The 3DS version doesn't support online co-op, so the Wii U version has its place I suppose. Also, what the hell is up with that blackbird guy rating shit. its like he has some kind of agenda against all things nintendo
Well, hopefully, this holiday season will help boost sales. I'm getting one. SM3DW, Pikmin, LEGO Marvel... all sound good to me
The problem I have with shooters on the wii is the standard wiimote control scheme is aim at the side of the screen to turn and that's really sluggish and if you aim too far you're suddenly no longer turning and dead in the water. Shooters need hyper fast response times and joysticks on controllers are bad enough compared to K&M, a wiimote is like going to war with a crippling disability :v:
Some let you use the classic controller.

people have been saying nintendo is finished since the N64 era
people have been saying nintendo is finished since the N64 era
Yeah but it's mostly because trash tier journalists say that about everything to get views, the wii outsold the ps3 and xbox 360 pretty heavily early on. Sales of a console don't necessarily equal profit but still. The wii u it's a legitimate concern though because I've never seen a nintendo console do this poorly, and people are wondering if it's due to their strategy starting to fail or just poor marketing
too busy playing Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Super Mario Bros U, Zombi U, Lego City, NintendoLand, and Sonic: Lost World to care can't wait to get Super mario 3D World this friday too.
wow two whole good games EDIT: Apparently 3D World is really good so that makes 3
the worst part about the wii u for me is that I think it's a genuinely great console. after pikmin 3 I have nothing to play until super mario 3d world comes out, then after that I'm going to be waiting for smash that's 3 games I'm actually interested in and one of them I already played it just feels weird to me because now all I use it for is browsing the internet in bed
I'm just saying that Nintendo needs to appeal to a wider audience than just children. Imagine an M rated Zelda game in a darker, realistic Hyrule. The thought of the possibilities gives me chills.
That has the potential to be just as bad as your generic Call of Duty styled FPS. Trying to make a franchise into something "Dark and Edgy" to "appeal to a wider audience" doesn't automatically make it good (Ex: Shadow The Hedgehog). And knowing how Nintendo is with being family-friendly, I'm sorry you won't get your dark and edgy Zelda.

Nintendo has failed to communicate with basic/casual gamers that it's a whole new console and not an addon to the Wii.
The issue with the Wii U is definitly poor marketing. Nintendo has failed to communicate with basic/casual gamers that it's a whole new console and not an addon to the Wii.
Or basically communicate that it exists. Maybe it's different in the US or whatever (it probably is), but I haven't even seen a fucking ad for the thing. A different issue was the price and the "meh" hardware. It wasn't as bad as people made it out to be, but even with the kinda disappointing specs of the XBox One and Playstation 4, they were pretty damn mediocre. Now, I'm not saying pure horsepower is necessarily a system seller (the Wii showed quite the opposite), but there's no Wii Sports 4 U or whatever they want to call it, and that basically sold the Wii here in Denmark at least. Nintendo needs something that isn't their already established franchises (or at least, they need some quite revolutionizing gameplay), because honestly, they're not that popular here in Denmark.

I mean that it might be third party devs being too lazy to try and port the PS4/Xbone versions over. From what I'm seeing so far, when a multiplat game is on the Wii U, it's built from the 360 version which is also PowerPC based. Of course the operating system affects it too, but usually not as much as the hardware.
I guarantee if Nintendo announced a GameCube 2. The crowd would go wild.

They're rereleasing it in HD with online multiplayer for $10 per game ($50 total) under the name of Wii Sports Club on the eShop with an eventual retail release. This should have been done at launch as free software including Nintendoland, imo. If they did this I don't think they'd be having as many issues as they are now. The CPU is pretty much the same but the extra gig of ram and much more powerful GPU it should be able to handle some much more than what we're seeing now. And what we are seeing now are really half assed Xbox 360 ports from Ubisoft and Treyarch.
but pikmin sucks.
GET OUT

Heck Sony made their graphics API almost identical to DirectX so games could be even more easily ported over to the PS4. Rapture from Bioshock, and all of Wind Waker still look great now.
All Ubisoft and Treyarch seem to be doing with their Wii U versions of their 360 ports is making the lighting slightly better. And then they take away all the DLC and complaing about poor sales on the Wii U. Why don't they just take the extra time to actually make their Wii U games worth buying? Bump if the res to at least a native 720p (1080p would be asking too much from them) and increase the textures if you're going to strip the game of DLC and some features. Buttholes.
The DLC part is stupid, though.

[editline]18th November 2013[/editline]
Pretty sights can be on just about any system, Rapture still looks beautiful now.
True. But the Wii U is capable of that and more but no one but Nintendo and their second party developers seem to care.
Yeah but it's mostly because trash tier journalists say that about everything to get views, the wii outsold the ps3 and xbox 360 pretty heavily early on.
The issue with the Wii U is definitly poor marketing. Nintendo has failed to communicate with basic/casual gamers that it's a whole new console and not an addon to the Wii.
I also think that they refuse to modernize themselves a bit. What I mean by that is not "Nintendo needs more gritty realism rootin tootin shootin games!", I mean stuff like adding online play for games beyond Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and Pokemon. I was really bummed out that Mario 3D World didn't have online features like co-op along with Mario Party: Island Tour. Seeing how Nintendo sorta caters to their audience in Japan and with bad things like the Swapnote incident, I don't expect them to embrace online play in the future.
I've played it before, and it's just not fun. I don't see why people like it so much.
Now hold on. I can't figure out for the life of me why Final Fantasy 7 gets everyone's dicks so hard but I don't go around saying it sucks.
I guarantee if Nintendo announced a GameCube 2. The crowd would go wild.
you do realize the Gamecube's not-even-close-to-PS2 like sales was what made Nintendo make the Wii and not another generic powerhouse box?
Now hold on. I can't figure out for the life of me why Final Fantasy 7 gets everyone's dicks so hard but I don't go around saying it sucks.
I never liked final fantasy either.
Wow, this thread got way out of control. Happy birthday Wii U.

But the Wii U is capable of that and more but no one but Nintendo and their second party developers seem to care.
Problem is that no one is buying the Wii U, and therefore there's not really a big enough audience to warrant a nice port. Therefore even less people buy the game, and as a consequence no one buys the console. It's a vicious circle.
I'll list some third parties as I assume you've probably heard more about the first parties. No More Heroes 1 & 2 (japanese styled beat em up)
It's interesting that people always brings the NMH series up when talking about good Wii games. I played them on the Wii and thought they were absolutely terrible, the motion controls really brought the game down and just made it terrible to play. When I got the updated re-release of the first game on the PS3, where it let me use an actual controller, it was absolutely amazing.
I bought a Wii U for Xmas last year and honestly have hardly played the thing, less so than i played my Wii when i got it. Looking at the exclusives it has released already, there's two nearly identically platformers (New super mario bros u / new super luigi u) both of which can be beaten in a matter of ~4 hours, and that's with me honestly taking my time on my first play through. The re-playability is not there whatsoever, once you go through the levels once the only re-playability offered is searching for hidden coins and time attack (which i honestly have always thought is just a tacked on thing to try to increase re-playability in all games) There's a few abysmal exclusives, including the new Soni, ZombiU, and Game & Wario, a ton of generic party games (Game Party Champions, Rabbids Land, Nintendo Land, Wii Party U, Game & Wario) An HD remake of Wind Waker - which i personally don't think is worth buying a system, the games art style made it look fantastic on the game cube and an HD remake was hardly necessary. A few generic "Wii fit" type games, and honestly i think that is it in terms of actual exclusives which have been released so far. The only exclusive game I am even remotely interested in on the Wii U that has been released is Pikmin 3. When you actually stop and take a look at the exclusives, the console just doesn't have much there at the moment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wii_U_games Every other game which isn't an exclusive is absolutely better on other consoles. I got AC3 for free on the wii u and thought i would give it a shot, and compared to the 360 version which i had already beaten it was far from even being on par. The frame rate was terrible, (i'm talking less than 20fps bad, constantly) the game wasn't very nice to look at, the controller was uncomfortable after playing for extended periods of time and overall just wasn't as good of an experience as it was on the 360. Sure, having the map and such on the game pad was slightly more convenient but sacrificing comfort, a more solid FPS, better graphics, better achievement system, friend system, online play etc. is not nearly worth it. Basically what i'm trying to say is the console is not worth a buy in my opinion for the few exclusives it actually has released that are worth even taking a glance at.
