You're missing my point. My point is that you can read literature of that difficulty like another book but at the same time be in a religious state of mind.

I'd like to know a little more about that study. It seems to me that the statistics they have are irrelevant to the ambiguous and rather vast claim they make. I challenge you to read the experiments without reading the conductor's conclusions. Would you come to the same conclusion they did? I felt it was a bit of a stretch to conclude thoughts of God make us slackers.

I logged on and saw this article in yahoo. First thing i thought was: I'm going to log on to facepunch and this article is going to be in the popular section. The second thing a thought was: Oh lord, more ammunition for facepunch's crusade against religion. I didn't know choosing to be an atheist also means you are dedicated to disproving religion at every chance you get in your life. Why can't people just be tolerant or others.

In all honesty, all these people bashing religion, should allow people to think what they want to think and believe in what they want to believe in. Aliens must not exist because I can't see them or prove with the closed mainframe that's my mind and life experience that they don't exist. See what I mean? On topic, though, this is an interesting find. It doesn't really take down enough detail to convince me that believing in God is generally related to being more slack. Many Muslims have a fatalistic "Allah willed it" take on everything and think that what happens is what happens and that it was pretty much doomed to be that way. I personally don't find myself more lax and thinking "well, God will hand me a pile of gold if I'm a good boy." Furthermore, many of these "educated" and "liberal" people are young, stupid, arrogant, or any combination of the above. I've seen how people can assume God doesn't exist or just not care because they think they're well enough off without a faith.
