Due to R6 siege, Ubisoft will never sell dlc that takes away from full experience again

I still regret buying the starter edition, not because the game is bad but because you have to grind soo much ingame money just to get some better ops. Also I bought it on uplay instead of steam which kinda sucks, oh well.
Doesn't really matter if you buy it on Steam, still requires you to have and use Uplay just like with other Ubisoft games on steam.
Supporting every game they release (which is usually like three or four games a year) for five to ten fucking years sounds like a monumental task. You know what would be easier? Just releasing finished games.
to be completely honest in this day and age i can't even tell between an unfinished game with content taken out as dlc and a finished game with dlc as an afterthought.
but i'm all for the idea of more "finished" games, whatever that may mean.

if you sync your steam with your account you just open the game up without any extra hassle if bought on steam
They kinda already did with R6 Siege.
One good game doesn't make a trend.

That one game told ubisoft (along with the crew and division)
1) you dont need to depend on pre-orders for success
2) this news that came out today saying DLC isnt that important either.
Ubi learned long-term actually gives them a continuing profit over a long time, making more money overall then one giant short-term burst.
Long-term profit means supporting games properly.
This means future games and current games that can adapt to it will probably follow this standard
While the maps were free, I would hardly consider the operators completely free, more like.. "free". A regular operator costs at most 2000 credits, while the dlc ones cost 25000. Have fun grinding that.
It's DLC, they have no obligation to give them to you for free. Maps being free is a big deal because it segregates the community when they're not free.
to be fair, you usually get free booster since Ubi severs arent that good, and it generally takes 3 days (7 hours a day of playing ranked) to get a new operator give or take, plus challenges so probably 2 days
I realize it's fine to be skeptical that they'll properly follow through, but aren't you guys being a bit hard on them? Uplay is a piece of trash and a lot of their recent games haven't been great, but at least they're admitting they have a problem with how they handle DLCs and claim they're trying to fix it. That's more than you can say about other companies.
wow they're really full of shit
what kind of company needs to keep promising it won't do dumb shit again right after they did it
I'll take dumb cosmetic microtransactions over map packs any day, at least that way I'll know there'll be plenty of people playing all the maps
How does this work for single player expansions and stuff?
How does this work for single player expansions and stuff?
if its a expansion it probably has to offer something brand new to the table like a actual expansion should but not be a fully brand new 60$ title

I feel like it's been a trend to add new random stuff to single player games that would've been sold as DLC in the 360 days. Like DOOM's arcade mode and classic mode.

tbh if you want the dlc operators just get the season pass. It takes forever to grind money and you don't get a refund if you decide to buy the season pass down the line. R6:S is actually a good game and isn't really shady when it comes to it's DLC so I think it's worth it.
I mean sure it has some problems but the developers have been pretty active with patches.
