Good thing, Cheques are a pain in the arse, take ages to clear and can bounce, they're hassle for businesses and I'm glad they're to be gotten rid of.

Most major retailers in the UK don't take cheques anymore, and as far as I know nearly everyone gets paid directly to their bank accounts then given a payslip. About the only thing cheques are used for is postal orders or for parents paying for stuff like school trips. Hell, I don't use cash if I can avoid it, I prefer to use my card.

Cheque that out. It's about time they were phased out.

What if I want to give my friend some money? I'll have to travel all the way to a bank to withdraw cash and give it to him rather than just write out a cheque

Everyone still uses cheques, I bet almost everyone has had a cheque for their birthday. They are a good way of transferring money around manually and relatively safely between friends and family.

Checks are annoying. They take forever to write and forever to clear. Debit card or cash for me.

I got a cheque on 1kr once (thats about 1/5 of a US dollar) Really a waste as it costed them 6kr sending me the cheque by mail...

I use cheques all the time though, relatives give me money in the form of cheques, and if I need to transfer a large amount of money to, say, my dad, then I'll use a cheque.

Just type the account number, amount to transfer, and [B]BAM[/B] money is there few seconds later.
