I'd rather not have a semi-dictatorship join the EU. Even more so after incidents, coupled with the fucking denial of a genocide and occupation of Cyprus.

Why would Turkey do that when they're kinda getting screwed by the war in Syria?

You can't just be 'offered' EU membership like that, you can be offered the chance to be examined to determine whether you meet any of the criteria that would allow you to further the process of negotiating a path to eventual membership

Because Bulgaria and Greece aren't capable (and shouldn't be made) to be barriers for the European Union. Bulgaria with it's 7 million people will collapse in every sense of the word if it has to take in the amount of refugees that Turkey does.
