it was in the eighties or something
fuck it I've p. much totally forgotten everything about it other than that there was a peaceful leader dude who got deposed by the US
You've already admitted that you don't have a fucking idea what you're talking about. Stop writing.
I don't really get why everybody thinks "the Taliban are fucked now". Don't they gain a good chunk of their resources from people pissed off at the invaders for one reason or another? Sometimes fighting fire with fire just leads to more fucking fire, and I doubt the Taliban mindset is one you can eradicate from the world with guns. Not saying I got the one true solution, but fighting against someone that gets resources because of the existence of the open conflict is like designing more draconian DRM to counter internet piracy.

So you're saying we should just bomb the crap out of them? That'll eradicate any mindset, not to mention anything else in the area.
Dad said he was kickin' it at the Orange Julius with some buds when they were told to go back to their compounds. He spent the rest of the day there.
You see this is why the coalition can't leave Afghanistan, the Taliban will just go in and retake everything as soon as they leave.
But by the sounds of it NATO had no involvement in repelling the attack. If this is true its actually a great sign that the Afghan security forces can actually defend themselves.
