ok friend keep telling yourself that
Why would it happen?
Fringe crazies shooting cops isnt really comparable to whole states rising up and waging war against the country.
I'm not seeing any other sources reporting that sixth death.
DART says they misspoke
still 5
I really wish I could fucking help somehow, but I feel fucking powerless. Terrifying to sit back and hear about all these people dying. Not only people, but the people protecting us.
Dallas has yet to 100% confirm the suspect shot themselves despite everyone reporting it.

at this point we dont even know what's going on. im not saying that it will happen but frankly saying that it is outside of the realm of possibility is more than a little inane. We are seeing massive social and political upheaval in our lifetime with no real end in sight. Things are going to get worse before they get better.

Hopefully this shit is over. Don't want anyone else getting hurt.

Its not going to get that big, it cant.
The US Government would never fight back if there was any significant enough rebellion, they would lose.
jesus fucking christ
the shots sound like fucking thunder rolling or something

The most that might happen would be rioting.
Civil war between who though?
If it's the goverment against some people, that's never going to be a war so much as extreme civil unrest. If it's the government against all the people, that's both absurd and impossible from a logistical point of view for the government.
If it's all the people vs all the people, with the goverment clamping down on all of it in a desperate bid for preservation, that's more possible but frankly to have two or three distinct groups fighting each other would require a very organized set of actors which don't really exist right now
I wouldn't expect it to be as organized as the actual civil war we had, but I do expect clashes between far-left and far-right groups to get much more violent and for lots of innocent people to get caught up in the mayhem, and for people from both sides to go on indiscriminate rampages. Even more than that, I'm fearing pretty much any activist rally or protest is at risk of going hot now.
Are there going to be defined sides exclusively targeting each other? Probably not gonna be that clean, but I feel like a lot of people are going to consider themselves just vaguely "at war" now and take up arms at any perceived enemies. Especially with sensationalism like that New York Post headline stirring the hysteria.

Best thing to do is carry the fuck on.
Go to work tomorrow. Go to school. Do your homework. Grocery shop. Run errands. Say hi to your neighborhor, shake a local cops hand. These people only get what they want if everything stops moving, and we turn on each other.
Roll up your sleeves, put on your work cap, and put your nose to the grindstone like any other day, it's the ultimate fuck you to the people who would see this shit stop us from going forward past this stuff.
Don't let these people stop you. Move forward with the way of life these officers gave their life to protect.
I feel like this is somewhat worth posting since before the chaos everything at the protest seemed rather orderly/peaceful

This seems like a perfect summation of why this event is so pointlessly cruel.

Yeah, that's pretty likely if this really blows up in the next week or so. But i wouldn't go so far as to say civil war until you have distinct groups vying for control/power of government.

I think you underestimate the existing (and possible further) divide in the United States. That aside, if there won't (or can't as you say) be a civil war we'll see a revolution instead. Whatever that brings.

The important thing now is to find out the motivation of the perps who got captured. At least it's over for now.

Its this shit right here I hate about the media, it isn't the first time they got a picture of some poor guy during a tragedy they thought was a suspect and just ran with it like it was confirmed. People have been KILLED in the past by false accusations like that.

wouldnt be so quick to say that; fox has been the only news station to report this. dallas pd, cnn, etc have yet to report said suicide. just a rumor for now. hope they catch him alive.

Rioting might happen. I almost expect it to. But there wont be any large scale civil war.
If it got to the point where it could be considered a full scale civil war, then the United States likely wouldnt end up being a thing by the end of it. The Gov knows this would happen, so i assume they'll try and make sure it doesnt.

Proving every hollywood movie wrong ever...
if you are falsely accused even if its in something crazy like this... Turn yourself in as safely as possible...

Fair enough, though I don't really know what better term to use than "civil war" to describe a nation violently turning against itself, even if the government itself hasn't gotten involved yet.

The media reported on what the police reported.
The media is still shit but they aren't at fault this time.
