Looks like he was a vet, judging by his uniform in the first picture.

That would explain how he was able to flank that officer. Watching that guy move was uncanny, it was like he was trained with the weapon which really alarmed me.

In the pictures of him in his combat uniforms, he's not wearing a combat action badge, or a combat infantryman's badge (which would be above the US ARMY on his uniform). You can't see his right shoulder, so I can't tell if he's wearing a combat patch too, but I doubt it. Also in the dress uniform picture, he only has the Army Service Ribbon, and National Defense Service Award, which are two awards that you get automatically after completing basic training. Also, he's a Private First Class in these pictures, which probably means he's had less then a year of service at the time of the photos (could have been demoted from a higher rank, if he had behavior issues while he was serving), which also makes it unlikely that he was deployed anywhere. Again, though, who knows how old these photos are.

This is what happens when a movement doesn't have leadership, it becomes a free for all for any mad idiot to project his own ideas on. If BLM wants to be taken seriously they need to get around a particular idea and denounce anyone who comes out as extremist. So far they've failed to do that and now this has happened so well done to them.
