I just woke up and I found out they blew him up with a robot? what? I'm surprised this hasn't caused some ethics debate
It's kind of misleading to say that they blew him up with a robot. They used the robot to attempt to disarm the explosive device that the gunman had on/near him. The device detonated, killing the gunman.

Good to see something positive floating around on Facebook.
The police chief's statement definitely makes it sound like they did it on purpose.
That may be the case, but it's not like they brought the explosive with them, and I'm sure they would have preferred a peaceful ending. [editline]8th July 2016[/editline]
I heard they rigged it with a claymore, apparently its something they use to do in Iraq
Now that would be a different story. I'm a bit skeptical though, as I don't think claymores would be something the police keep in their inventory, whether they are allowed to or not. Source?
That may be the case, but it's not like they brought the explosive with them, and I'm sure they would have preferred a peaceful ending.
Of course. I'm sure if it was intentional it was their last option on the table. I doubt they went "ok guys we can talk him down for sure but let's blow him up instead" :v: [editline]8th July 2016[/editline]
Now that would be a different story. I don't know if Marshals use those kinds of things, though.
Of course. I'm sure if it was intentional it was their last option on the table.
He was backed into a corner and was being uncooperative in negotiations. I doubt they had much of a choice, this was definitely the safest way for them to handle things. Maybe it was a bit of an unorthodox way of dealing with a situation, but they had already lost 5 fellow officers. No reason they should risk more to try to save a piece of scum like this that would more then likely just end up being executed anyhow. IMO, it was a smart move.
Of course. I'm sure if it was intentional it was their last option on the table. I doubt they went "ok guys we can talk him down for sure but let's blow him up instead" :v:
There honestly was never a plan to talk anyone down. Either the suspect surrendered on their own or they were going to kill them. Negations are off the table.
There honestly was never a plan to talk anyone down. Either the suspect surrendered on their own or they were going to kill them.
There honestly was never a plan to talk anyone down. Either the suspect surrendered on their own or they were going to kill them. Negations are off the table.
What the fuck are you talking about? They negotiated for hours with this guy.
So you're saying the Chief lied when he said "the hostage negotiator did an excellent job in getting the suspect to talk to us"?
The use hostages is what was the negations were about. Their lives are what mattered. The end game for the suspect was being killed or surrendering on their own.

Source?
It sounds more like they used one of those charges that's used for detonating bombs. They had the National Guard to back them up so who knows. But you can read more about it here http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/robots/news/a21735/dallas-police-bomb-defusal-robot/
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/dallas-police-shooting-black-power-8378177 Wow, I hope this is some sick prank and not real.
The use hostages is what was the negations were about. Their lives are what mattered. The end game for the suspect was being killed or surrendering on their own.
IIRC, he didn't have any hostages with him.
Well the Facebook posts are real, the tabloid just picked them up.
Using terror to achieve goals. Bomb threats. Seems like terrorism to me.
Why is there no mention of terrorism?
What exactly are you talking about? I am not arguing for or against what he is arguing, I am just saying his argument for it doesn't work. You meanwhile went into a thread where in the there had already been posted official descriptions of the suspects and randomly assumed that they were all white anarchists.
Correct, I read the thread, came to the conclusion the black dude with the ar-15 style rifle had nothing to do with it, and made my opinion noted that I thought it was crazy white people using the BLM movement as a cover. If a bunch of people on the internet think they found the suspect, the majority of the time its completely wrong, just like it was this time. So sorry, it wasn't a "random assumption", it was a formulated opinion based on the location and event. We were both wrong, you just wanted to act like a cool guy and call out a mod for allegedly not reading the thread, which I did.
Oh please, there was nothing to suggest this was anarchist motivated by page 11 (your post) and the person with the ar-15 was still officially a suspect till around page 16-18 of this discussion.
Honestly, I would not be surprised if this turns out to be a case of black supremacist trying to start shit. They have been getting quiet cocky in the recent years.
I'm confused? Just woke up and there was only one shooter now?
I'm confused? Just woke up and there was only one shooter now?
According to the shooter himself. Not many of the things he said have turned out to be true though. 3 other suspects are still in custody.
Anyone else find it strange that the media tries to start a race war as soon as Hillary's email scandal heats back up? :tinfoil:
So is there still a possibility that bombs could go off or was that confirmed to be an empty threat by the shooter?
So is there still a possibility that bombs could go off or was that confirmed to be an empty threat by the shooter?
They've performed a sweep of the area and found nothing.
what BLM is absolutely not insane,
[t]https://s32.postimg.org/etwqk37d1/Screenshot_2016_02_26_00_52_56.png[/t] Yah, totally not insane going from their about us page.

Never forget the Fergusson investigation. Some parts of your country are seriously fucked up.
If a bunch of people on the internet think they found the suspect, the majority of the time its completely wrong, just like it was this time.
The police posted the picture and asked for information, it wasn't "the internet".
