Lt. Villiard? Is he even allowed to be talking about this?
Um that doesn't sound like solitary confinement.

What worries me is the fact that his access to media is what they're addressing, instead of the fact that he has no pillow or blanket to use. Get your fucking priorities straight, Villiard.

Hey man we wouldn't want him to be leaking the CNN news reports on wikileaks or else the insurgents might get an upper hand
If we gave him a pillow we'd be aiding the evil al quadea
Just give me internet and a good pc and i can manage a couple of years without a breakdown,.
Lack of internet makes me rage. Just imagine it. Lack of all social contact.
can you imagine being completely alone for 7 months? it would be torture
Most Facepunchers and 4channers do that already.
Most Facepunchers and 4channers do that already.
No they don't.
Facepunchers are talking to people daily through text, that's not being completely alone..
Not.. completely.
Solitary confinement =/= torture. I was expecting serious waterboarding and constant interrogation.
Could not have been a more misleading title.
Yep, definite torture.
The average human needs to have social contact every 7-10 minutes while their awake.
Yep, definite torture.
I don't know if you've ever been in jail or not, but just a regular old cell is pretty close to torture as far as I am concerned. Spend a night in a drunk tank alone sometime. Time stands still.
Morality and legality are different things, don't get them confused.
Morals and Law change by the times with things like these.
This is disgusting.

I took a trip to Canada once, and I was held by the Canadian Border guys at the airport because I didn't have enough money for my intended 2 week stay. 12 hours in a holding cell until they could get me a flight the next morning. Time stood still. It was cold as hell, and there were 3 cameras in there, so no using the bathroom either. Fucking sucked. All of the officers were really courteous though, Even got me some food from Timmy's.
Funny thing is, I went back a few months later, and the first thing they said was "Aren't you that guy from Texas, or Arkansas or something?"

psychological torture, read the thread
Yeah, how dare he expose military injustice and corruption!
He didn't expose corruption and injustice, he released a batch of files that happened to contain those things. It also contains many, many things that have no business being leaked (the public needs to know 15 civilians were killed and covered up. The public does not need to know the frequencies jammed by IED jamming systems). In the chat logs that were used as evidence against him, it seemed to me he only did it to show that he could.
Not to say he deserves torture. It's just that he isn't some grand whistle-blowing hero. He's just a douche-bag who happened to do something good.
Um...It sounds to me like he's in jail.
Um...It sounds to me like he's in jail.
Solitary confinement, which isn't all that frequent in jail, is nothing like this. The inmates are given books, allowed to work out, and given outdoor time several times a day.
He is a traitor after all.
you are a dumb ass after all
Since the start of all this wikileaks business, my opinion of America has gone down and down and down. And you know what? The cables aren't even that bad in my opinion. It's the USA's North Korea-worthy oppressive treatment of Wikileaks that has done it.
You might want to wait for literally an ounce of actual evidence that the US government has been involved in the crackdown.
Try sitting in a room all day and night alone, you'll go crazy.
he does that already, same with most FP.
With nothing but a bed, food, and a toilet.
No Facepunch or computer.
Now this is the Wikileaks I support. Glad this was revealed. And if anyones denying that being in a square box for 7 months isn't mental anguish, you're not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
but the US government supports human rights... oh wait
Dear god.
I don't even agree with locking him up like that in the first place, but he should have at least had a trial. If found "guilty", he should have been put in a regular prison. This is just a disgusting breech of basic human rights. Sure, he leaked important/classified information, but they're treating him like he's some sort of serial killer at hospital for people with sever mental problems.
Honestly, I think he's so damn brave. No episodes of violence? I doubt anyone on here could do that. Sit alone, no human contact, no idea what's happening to your friends and family, nothing to do, but sit there, for seven+ months. Can't walk a distance, can't have anything like a can of cola or read a book. I think most people on here would snap at that after two weeks, myself included there.
My heart goes out to him.
Getting top-secret documents that shouldn't be revealed in the first place deserves this punishment. Can't wait to see him executed.

It's the US. What do you expect?

I think the highest classified documents in the leaks are classified, I read somewhere that they weren't going to release any secret+ documents

They are holding him until he has his trial. That's how the justice system works.
And he's in solitary confinement because he is on suicide watch.
