One minute to midnight:
you're a bit off
I don't get it. How does this thing work?
It's just there to give a few people something to do. I doubt any of those people will be around to set it to midnight when a Nuke is actually flying
fffff ninja
Here's what happens in global warming: 1. We release fucktons of co2 into the atmosphere. 2. Warming in polar areas. 3. Permafrost melts, releasing methane gas into the atmosphere. 4. Methane accelerates global warming, causing ice caps to melt further. 5. Massive flooding in coastal cities. Given this is very over-simplified.

That's not a perfect world. In a fucking perfect world, no one would care either way if you were one or the other.
Someone get Dr. Manhattan
Someone get Dr. Manhattan
F that noise, last time we did that, tens of millions died!
On the matter of alternative energy, how viable is geothermal energy, if you exclude costs (IE, in regards to how much space it takes vs energy produced, environmental impact, etc)? I've always been a big proponent of geothermal, but I don't really know much about it to spout one way or the other in regards to it.
According to this one documentary I watched, "doomsday" on the Clock means the use of nuclear weapons. So basically it's scare mongering.

Mostly because it is on a fault line so it has a lot of places were they can easily access hot spots.
It's like you know nothing about solar and wind power. I was trying to mock your post with "duh, solar only when sun" but then I realized you already posted that. And where is hydroelectric energy to come from? And you still somehow manage to ignore how ice cores and stone layers showed us that CO2 NEVER in the history of Earth has risen that fast in that little time, not even before or after the biggest and quickest Ice Ages. Even then it took TENS of THOUSANDS of years for the planet to do what we needed roughly 150 years for.
Unless I'm sorely misinformed, the furthest back we've been able to look is MAYBE a million years. The planet has been around for over 4 billion years. Not trying to discredit your argument but our knowledge of our planet is (relatively) only very recent so to say "never in the history of Earth" is a little foolish. I fully support new sources of energy (nuclear needs to take a stronger foothold) but I don't approve of hyperbolic speech on a very serious subject.
we need more nuclear energy and wind because turbines look fucking cool
but what about time zones
Obligatory post of crappy smashing pumpkins song from that horrible watchmen movie.
Some one unplug it so it flashes 12
Everyone is gay? That's not a perfect world. In a fucking perfect world, no one would care either way if you were one or the other.
You just cared.
Scientists read up on global affairs and if they deem that humanity is being self destructive they move the minute hand closer to midnight. It's a bit of a anachronism from the cold war.
Yep, there's a committee of scientist who decide.
F that noise, last time we did that, tens of millions died!
He was framed!
I hope the batteries run out on this clock.
Bunch of terrorists holding the world ransom. Why doesn't Obama do anything?
because he's worrying more about.............. ECONONY
They should assemble a team of elite commandos to infiltrate the building where the Doomsday Clock is held and set the time back six or seven hours. I can't believe anyone would be devious enough to construct such a weapon of mass destruction and than making ridiculous demands like "nuclear weapon treaties with the commies" Bunch of terrorists holding the world ransom. Why doesn't Obama do anything?
Watching to much Expendables and too little (unbiased) news. You don't have voting rights yet... right?

I've always been a big proponent of geothermal, but I don't really know much about it to spout one way or the other in regards to it.
Last I heard about it, a concern was the accidental release of toxic gases from the earth's crust (much like when a volcano erupts), but other than that and finding an ideal location to drill, not much wrong about it. Thankfully people can already use geothermal energy to an extent at home, greatly reducing energy costs by using the ground as a heat sink/source.
I don't get it. How does this thing work?
The closer to twelve, the bigger the chance everything goes to shit
I just checked my fridge and there's nothing. This is it guys it's over.
I'm too busy being dead to comment.

Not going to lie, I thought the doomsday clock was entirely from watchmen, I didn't realise it actually existed. What a stupid idea. It's just some scaremongering tactic; What they are saying is that the world is ~0.7% away from nuclear destruction? I really don't think so.
Why do they use a clock?
Why do they use a clock?
because a doomsday egg timer isn't reliable
