• Giant Killer Squids Devour Fish, Fishermen

This was already disproven. The squids aren't killing machines at all. When they are stressed by fisherman and shit, they go into a frenzy and even attack each other blindly. [editline]10:32PM[/editline] Some scientists proved that if approached with no threat or anything, they're docile and curious

There are no man eating fish because humans are not native to the ocean. It would be weird having a staple diet of something that lives in a different biome. A Humboldt won't typically mess with you unless you're instigating a feeding frenzy. Which is what they do when they fish them. The same can be said for sharks.
oh shit
Great movie
Damn title, these are humboldt squid, they're a completely different family to giant squid. They could at least have said "large squid" or "jumbo squid" instead of using the name of a different type of squid.
Great movie
Never seen it. What's it called?
Great movie
Yeah pretty under rated in my opinion. The ending was so miserable it was a good way to end it. [editline]08:41PM[/editline]
Never seen it. What's it called?
The Mist
Yeah. Humboldt are named after the Humboldt current. This is their native habitat. Vicious mountain lions spotted in mountains. More at 11. And yeah... Squid are one of the things to avoid in the water. They will fuck your shit up if they decide to.
A lot of people don't seem to realize that these animals will fuck you up if you get in their way. I know I read somewhere you keep a marine fishtank, and I can say in my freshwater tank I've got at least three fish that aren't scared to bite me at all (sometimes drawing blood) if they decide they don't like me. I still love my wolf fish, jardini and pike though.
The Mist
I've heard of it then. Didn't sound that good.
Yeah pretty under rated in my opinion. The ending was so miserable it was a good way to end it. [editline]08:41PM[/editline] The Mist
That movie was horrifying, and the ending was really depressing too.

Anybody else read it as "two attack TESTICLES"?
Godfuckingdamnit why did I click this thread? I'm already scared shitless of squids as it is and now I find that these tentacled fuckers are attacking people now?
Release the Kraken!
He is supposed to have a pegleg! :colbert:
We already knew humboldt squids killed people, we fish them for their delicious squid steaks (not kidding), but we fish them anyway. These things are big but not like "Giant" except compared to super market squid. Also, it's been shown they're not as aggressive when you're not chumming the water as they seem to go into a feeding frenzy. This article is bullshit. Didnt fishermen used to fear Giant squids for this? And we just thought it was superstition
Didnt fishermen used to fear Giant squids for this? And we just thought it was superstition
These are Humboldt squid not colossal squid. Colossal: Humbolt squid are delicious. I look forward to it becoming very cheap.

A 50cm long squid isnt "giant"
A 50cm long squid isnt "giant"
Anything that swims and has sharp eating tools is a giant man eater to the media. The ocean is somehow infinity more scary than shit on land to idiots.
Anything that swims and has sharp eating tools is a giant man eater to the media. The ocean is somehow infinity more scary than shit on land to idiots.
Though many animals are blown out of proportion by the media, Humboldt squid are quite aggressive and their curiosity can make them quite destructive. Would be in your best interest not to swim when they are around. Probably wouldn't have to worry about them invading your beaches and killing your children, but like I said, they aren't really company that you want to be in the water for :v:

Thing is right, chain mail is heavy... along with diving gear, these scientists have no chance of escape if one of them goes for him/her.
