They'll change it when it starts to become and embarrassment.

Well, they have started on the Green Wall of China, plus a Green tax:

It's not already?
What was that about human rights violations, China?

This is just insane. I thought it was dark and grey because it was overcast, but nope, there's the sun.[/QUOTE]
That was the sun? Holy shit

Beijing is so dirty you can see it from space.
Cant wait for fusion power and cheap electric cars.
Hopefully when that starts coming out shit like this will be history
Comparison picture of smoggy and non-smoggy day

Both are from August of 2005. Clear one was after rain, other one was on a really bad day.
My sister goes to college in Beijing... She said the smog is like something you've never seen in the US

You're right, but its no picnic weather in the US either.

Where we grew up, it's pretty unreal. Actually, im pretty sure most people would agree that most-all of US cities dont have health impeding smog problems, or acid rain for that matter.
(happened in LA before)
there was a post on reddit with 9 pictures of 9 different days stitched together and some were really sunny and others were dreary like this
but i couldnt find it
[editline]24th April 2013[/editline]
automerge
The actual degree of it is absolutely batshit insane.

"It's okay guys, the poisonous smog doesn't cloud the city all the time."
I'm never experienced smog in my life, but I can imagine it's awful.

Of course. But the fact that it can even look like this

on a day of high, clear sun; no matter how much of a 'bad day' it is, is fucking insane.

It is quite literally one of the darkest imaginable dystopian settings manifested into reality, completely jaw dropping.

Not really. It's smog. The dystopia of Blade Runner wasn't the smog. You're thinking An Inconvenient Truth.
That movie had terrible acting, by the way. I didn't believe a word that fucker said as genuine.

I mostly meant it in a general sense.

kind of a similar to another I found a number of years back

In some way this seriously pisses me off to see nations with progressive industrials, only utilizing the resources and gives a fuck about the enviroment and the coming generations. This makes me sad.

To be fair, that picture is horribly underexposed. I imagine that photographer did the same thing many horror films do when they shoot a scene during the day but underexpose it enough to make it look like it is night time.
I have a feeling it was underexposed purposely to mislead to make a point. Don't get me wrong, their air quality is still shit, just not that bad.
I was in Beijing 5 years ago, and it looked and smelled like a western city. I can't even imagine what it will look like in 5 years.

I live in the city that's generally number one in cities with worst pollution, I can say it's nowhere near as bad as Beijing is now.
It's played on the PS1 that's why
Go to China/Taiwan during hurricane season you get nice weather but you also get acid rain.

That looks like something out of a post-apocalyptic drama
