You know, sometimes I wonder why people feel the need to quote freedictionary.com or another online dictionary when it comes to define X, instead of, you know, saying what they personally believe
just my two cents
Thats not how sensationalist headlines works, you're supposed to battle every single other user in this section as if they represent exactly what you're arguing against. Then you have to give witty responses to each other for hours until one side realizes that the internet is the internet and nobody gives a fuck except for autistic 16 year olds. Googling define X is a sure fire way to one up your [del]opponent[/del] enemy.
It could be cheaper in the long run to do it this way. Hypothetically, if there was a massive refugee crisis over there, and that destabilized the region and maybe even led to a wider war, the US would be forced to defend its strategic interests. That could cost a huge amount of money.
OR we could join together with other countries and everyone takes in some refugees. This prevents at least one kind of catastrophe from happening and requiring US intervention.
This thread is a trainwreck a fifth of a page in.
I don't understand xenophobia or racism. We're all people. Why does skin color or race - not even a scientifically accurate method of taxonomy - bring about so much hatred, fear, and anger?
We're all people. Fuck racism, fuck xenophobia, get over your own immature attempts to be superior to other sections of the population based not on merit but on the luck of the draw of your place of birth.
As long as they don't start trouble, obey the law, and help out those that needed help, it's all good in my book.
Reworded what I said. I said Muslims being a race when I actually meant was being "racist" against Muslims.
The first Syrian US President is coming
He'll fix everything up from bottom to top you'll see!
Send them to rural Texas like the Germans!
What's so evil about taking in refugee's? Syria is clearly having a conflict that's causing alot of death and destruction.
Isn't America all about giving people opportunities?
The war is one problem, the refugees are another. Some of them probably lost everything that tied them to Syria anyway. Offering them a new life in a better place is worth considering.
But it's not a permanent solution. We shouldn't just take people into our country, it's counterproductive and a temporary fix.

Yes, I somewhat agree with this guy. While I am not against the idea of taking refugees in, I think we should consider if the refugees will want to stay or not and the long term implications of the deed.
Please don't...
As I said before, and as I'll say now... You cannot hate someone for wanting better, you can only hate them for what actions they take as an individual to reach those goals.
If these refugees are granted entrance to the United States, I wish them the same luck that my Polish and German ancestors had when they came through during the 1860's and 1940's. Becoming their own type of American, and prospering to fullest of what they possibly could.
Please don't send them to the northern midwest.
I beg of you.
[sp]Already a lot at the moment anyways[/sp]

NO
FUCK OFF.
We don't need more muslums to come here and try to convert their communities into "little syria".

I can only hope that these are posts by two future expatriates, because any american who wants to turn away refugees for such ludicrous reasons, was obviously unfortunate enough to be born in the wrong country. Despite what the international community seems to think, most of us here don't take kindly to such sentiment.
I'm fine with this.
It's not like America doesn't already have Muslims, assholes.

I wouldn't bother trying to say this to him, Emma Lazarus was a Jew.
