I found this thread both funny and ridiculous. I'm a Romanian too, but when it comes to shove, I wouldn't quit my country to go work somewhere else. I know, I know: "but what if they offer you better pay? What then?". It all comes down to expertise, right? Are you good at what you do and will you get the project/work done in a timely manner and close to perfection? Get a Romanian the perfect working conditions, and it will surpass any British out there. I'm not talking bullshit, just check the major companies (in many fields of work, both intellectual and comercial) and see how many Romanian bright minds are their members/worker/leaders. Now, there will be some RO > UK controversy, because I can't help it, my opinions aren't objective most of the times. Are UK people scared of losing their jobs to other nonUK people, imigrants? UK boy, you'd better up your work potential, don't be lazy, that's the rule of job contracts. Even Asians can't do your job faster and less payed too. Many Romanians leave their country for better paid jobs, because most are good at what they do. The prospect of a 10/20x times paid job is tempting, while an UK person deems it low_paid. Not all British are xenophobic, however, there is the matter of controlling the inflow that needs to be addressed. Britain does get a large influx of immigrants each year, and if you look at an atlas… Go look at an atlas… You’ll see, we aren’t that large of a landmass. Now, seeing as most of the immigration goes to England, look at the area of Britain that is England. Now, with most of the work and opportunities being located in London, check London’s area. We really are running out of space in [u]certain[/u] areas. Hell, I live in the North West of London and so many old buildings such as Pubs, Bowling alleys, shops and some parks have all been scrapped and made into flats to facilitate the rising population. This is a cause of alarm for some people, and is an issue that needs to be addressed, not out of xenophobia, but out of necessity. Secondly, neither nationality is superior. Unless one side has extra organs that make them live longer or some shit, you lot need to wake the fuck up and realise two things; One is that you are both human, meaning that neither side has an advantage over the other as a group; and two is that you need to take this shit in terms of individual cases. Not to sound like a racist xenophobic (I have one black friend, i'm not racist!!111) But there is a problem with immigration with this country and it's avoided out of fear of being labeled a racist or xenophobic. it looks like our country is spiraling the drain of a recession and it's not helping when our welfare system is systematically being fucked over every day (bedroom tax anyone?) to the point where you can't even live on state welfare. On top of that, Businesses are going out of business or closing shops. Liverpool has just had like 4 HMV's close (Or due to close) 6 post office shops to shut and a hardware/DIY shop Rapid is closing. That's at least like 400+ out of a job in a small city in the space of a week and I fear more may close. Getting a job is hard these days. There are many more problems with finding work such as people getting jobs when they don't need it, People working 2 jobs when they only need to work one job etc but that's a topic for its own discussion. How can any immigrants support themselves when there is no work? Alright, state welfare? well not really, British nationals are getting scrutinized on welfare because it's straining, too many people are claiming, Allowing immigrants into the country won't help. They won't find work. They will HAVE to claim benefits and it adds to the problem. Now the problem isn't factoring in how we're supposed to house them too. Since there is a housing crisis and again, even British nationals are struggling to find suitable accommodation for 1 person or a small family. How can we support immigrants if we can't even support our own? I'm no politician, but saying there isn't a problem is ignorant.
