Apparently this is the most read news article on BBC:s website today.
110C is a little too much imo. I usually enjoy 80-90 degrees, and if I spend too much time there I get very dizzy and stuff. These guys went super hardcore with their challenge :D
Just watched the local news (Nelosen), this year's was the last one :frown:
Good god, thats 230f, and I thought 83f was bad.
Pfft been in sauna in 110 C' heat. but not a long time.
Anyway its an extreme "sport" so you can pretty much predict casualties.
You know what Celsius means, right?
Saunas are usually around 90-100 degrees, but they're usually very dry. I think it was the steam that did it.
They must have nostrils like copper pipes because that shit must burn
Just watched the local news (Nelosen), this year's was the last one :frown:
Yeah the article mentioned that.
The event, which had over 130 participants from 15 countries, had been held since 1999. The organisers said it would never be held again.
That is some hardcore shit....I think it's fucking crazy but at the same time I wonder if I could last like a minute. Even in in something a little cooler, like 99C or something. I'd be proud of myself if I could.
Funny, the boiling point of blood is 96.8°C...
He definitely couldn't take the heat (as his insides were being fucking cooked and his blood boiled :gonk:)

Anyone who completed seventh grade chemistry can understand the difference between boiling water in a metal pot at 100C and sitting in an air-filled room at 100C

Damn, you got me :v:
Still, it would be pretty effin' hot and definitely not good for you :/

It's very good for you. What doesn't kill you only makes you str-
fuck
I don't get this. I hate sauna's, i can't breathe in them at all.
[editline]02:34AM[/editline]
They're just stupidly uncomfortable.
Wow, they get a new skin after they have been in 120 Celsius?
Oh and yes that is skin in the last picture.
better one

eugh
(am I the only one who thought of the ghouls in FO3?)
Did he learn nothing from the sauna bit in Hitman?
I wanna know who thought up a sauna contest.. seriously.
If i remember correctly they were there for six minutes.
I can't understand how you can stay in 110 degree heat that long. I thought that even 60 degree heat would kill you within a couple of minutes.
Attention thread readers!!
Learn about heat conducting! One can easily stay in 80C sauna for a while. One would die quick if submerged in 80C water.
Heart about it yesterday, his blood boiled or something, it's gotta hurt like fuck...
I use my sauna everyday.
110 celsius isn't THAT bad actually, but the fact they put a bucket of water on the rocks every 30 seconds makes it 100 times worse.
Video of said event.

That looked like an oversized oven, I can't believe the other guy survived!!
That's a stupid contest.
So is running around in a big circle to see who lasts the longest.
I don't get their culture and Saunas. Is it more of a social thing? or does the cold there usually require nearly every household to have a really humid and hot room.
Social thing, and it feels pretty damn great. I usually don't bother going when I have the chance though, I just got tired of it. Too much sitting and concentrating on sweating I guess.
I've been in west africa when it's 55C, I doubt that compares to 110C, seeing as water would be boiling at that temprature too.
55C in west Africa air humidity would be worse.
This is the reason why every sauna should have a temperature of 80-95 celsius.
Let's make our cars travel at 20mph for safety
Yeah the article mentioned that.

99C isn't THAT impressive. While I'm not one for saunas that much, even I could take that temperature.
Why are they canceling the contest though? You'd think eventually there WOULD be a fatality. That just seems necessary. They could take a break for a couple years or something.
I've been in a Sauna which was over 100 degrees celcius. Under a minute though, and water hadn't been thrown so the heat didn't conduct that bad.
You are not Finnish if you haven't been in Sauna once in your life.
