To me, being circumscribed doesn't really impact me significantly. I don't really mind that I didn't consent to it. I do understand why many people would be against it though, and I think that it shouldn't be a default practice, but at the same time I don't have a problem if the parents are able to ask for it without being prompted by a doctor.
I agree, but It's one of things where you can't be like "Oh man, I want to get UN-Circumsized", where as the other way around at least you have a choice later in life.
I don't really care, it's never been an issue for me, but I can understand how others might feel like a right to choose was taken away.
But I mean, I also didn't get to choose how my parents treated me and how I grew up.
I for one am happy that my skin is all there
thanks for being you, penis
I'm very indecisive, so I have chosen to have only half of my penis circumsized, right down the middle.
I was given something like that.
Loose circumcision or something. It's weird. You have a foreskin but the heads exposed, but you can still wrap it up, but it'll roll back.

best of both worlds?
I thank my parents for being adamant against getting me circumcised.
Doctor apparently really tried convincing her otherwise.
best of both worlds?
I have no fucking idea. The coloration is different and there's a ring of way lighter skin on the bottom of the head.
It's not bad, but I still feel sort of cheated. The way I sort of see non screwing up the nerves circumcisions are that they're like someone choosing the haircut you'll have for the rest of your life.
It's a sort of minor thing, but you can't do anything about it.

The doctors in the 80's and 90's were fucking obsessive in America regarding it. Something along the lines of 80-90 percent of new borns.
Oh shit my dick's about to be illegal!
I think banning it on underage boys is reasonable. I certainly think that the child should be given their choice on this decision. Now, if there was a straight up complete ban for all ages, then I would have more of an issue.
Wait, this is good news. Bitches love a bad boy.
"Hey babe, wanna see my sawnoff shotgun? Yeah, it's pump-action. No, I don't have a license."
Female circumcision is much worse
Most types are. Hood removal is the same thing though, and already illegal most places.

"My dick is so hardcore it's banned in Denmark"?
- There is strong evidence that circumcision reduces the risk of HIV infection in heterosexual men in high-risk populations. Evidence among heterosexual men in sub-Saharan Africa shows a decreased risk of between 38 percent and 66 percent over two years.
- Circumcision has a protective effect against the risks of penile cancer in men, and cervical cancer in the female sexual partners of heterosexual men. Penile cancer is rare, with about 1 new case per 100,000 people per year in developed countries, and higher incidence rates per 100,000 in sub-Saharan Africa (for example, 1.6 in Zimbabwe, 2.7 in Uganda and 3.2 in Swaziland).
But oh no! Facepunch wants parents to not decide what is best for their children even though it drastically reduces chances of Penile cancer and somewhat lowers the risk of HIV. There is no evidence that it is unhealthy and no evidence that it effects sexual performance for negative or positive. It's also very painful to wait until adult age to have it done and takes longer to recover. Foreskin is like the appendix. Doesn't do anything and don't need it.

Removing the appendix of every child would drastically reduce the rate of appendicitis but they don't do that either, only when there's reason to remove it
Circumcision is evil how? Circumcision is more and more proving to being effective then worthless such as, mainly these two.

Sure, that's sub-Saharan Africa. However, the level of hygiene, healthcare and sexual education is much more advanced in developed-countries. Its just deemed an unnecessary procedure with very little return in developed countries.

I gave Africa as an example. HIV protection is available here to lower risks but it is proven that even in developed countries Penile cancer occurs less in circumcised men.

Doesn't do anything but improve my sexual pleasure and protect my glans
by this logic we might as well cut off the head entirely.
So basically, wash your dick from time to time?
Wow we just solved the hygiene issue. Highfives all around. Also a figure with a margin of 30 percent is kind of wacky.
Oh and if you're going to have unprotected sex in high population areas in africa, you kind of know what you're getting into.
Having unprotected sex with someone who has HIV has the potential to transmit it no matter if there is a foreskin or not, the foreskin variable doesn't cause HIV, HIV causes HIV.

What good does a hood do on a coat when there's hats?
Oh God, the thought of head removal.

Also no it does not effect sexual pleasure in either parties.

I don't even know how the second part makes sense

However, you have to remember that medical professionals around the world have stated its not necessary. Even in the US, we managed to backpedal so hard, its not even funny. Going from ~90% in the 90s to just under half in a matter of one decade. I have a feeling that they the two reasons you gave aren't nearly enough to justify it, especially considering how rare penile cancer is.
What about girl circumcision, is that not pretty horrible too?
In some ways it's worse, but most modern countries toko a big stance against it a long time ago.
I don't even know how the second part makes sense
the foreskin can increase the chance of HPV transmission which can lead directly to cervical cancer. i however enjoy my extra skin, if you keep it clean you don't really need to worry. however if you're in an area with a lack of consistent running water getting cut might be a good idea to avoid Balanoposthitis. the Egyptians were kinda smart in that regard.
When they reach the age of majority (typically 18 years), they can freely choose to undergo any ritual surgery they might want.
owch, also what about religions that arguably will be the ones partaking in this, what about their age when a boy is considered a man? those are arguably much earlier than 18

Yeah I see certain situations where its justified. But in a modern country with decent hygiene and healthcare? Not so much.

Religion needs to stay the fuck away from laws.

When I'll have children I'll remove their toenails at birth. I mean they're useless anyway, and that way they will never get ingrown nails. They'll thank me when they're older.
Honestly, circumcision used to be a lot more effective in the past due to high levels of uncleanliness than now. However, while still health beneficial today, it's no longer anything really worth what you lose from it.
