If only he had been a good guy to John Carpenter like Kojima
Is it really that similar tho?
I kinda enjoyed Lockout

Almost copy-pasted
Having watched them both, I'd personally have to disagree.
I personally find both Escape From films to be kinda slow and boring. Whereas I've watched Lockout maybe eight times, and absolutely love it.
So I mean, I guess if Lockout is plagiarized, in my personal opinion, Besson at least did it better than Carpenter. :v:

Ever read something and end up thinking "this can only be a shitty attempt at satire"?
Because that's how you made me feel.

Hey, I found Escape from NY boring too, this convinced me to check out Lockout some time. If this is satire, it did it's job.
The irony is Carpenter's work is itself derivative. Assault on Precinct 13 is a case in point.
My opinion is that if you lift shots, dialogue, costumes, or specific props then yeah you're plagiarizing. Otherwise you are paying homage or borrowing. What's Tarantino doing if this is plagiarizing?
If only he had been a good guy to John Carpenter like Kojima
For the most part Kojima doesn't do copy-paste, he always mixes it up with his own twists or ideas from other franchises. Kojima does homages correctly.
luc is such a hack these days. after columbiana and lucy i am convinced he has completely lost his mind. then he does this and cements it.
but he's been plagiarising, or remaking, whatever you want to call it, his own movies for years now. it is not surprising he starts plagiarising other peoples

he's tried to remake la femme nikita so many times now. it's like he's trying to perfect the 'female assassin vengeance film' and he can't seem to get it right so he keeps making a new one.
