Ubisoft was just silent when Eurogamer and RPS asked them for comment. Typical. Just be quiet maybe they'll forget and get over it!
Kaspersky is actually good, for one reason: It is Russian, based in Moscow, and the majority of viruses are actually from Russia (with love) So, the virus circulates around Russia first, getting picked up by Russian anti-viruses. That means by the time it gets here, Kaspersky already has it on the definitions list and you're safe. Of course, not all come from Russia, so it's not 100% safe. Then again, name me one that is!
No, it's good because it's Best Korea's antivirus. Look how badass Kim Jong-Un is:
I really hope they'll remove this shit DRM because of this, I don't even want it on my system anymore.
Can someone make one that takes you to spooky scary skeletons and wont let you leave?
I hope this causes a PR disaster and they scrap that Uplay shit from all their future releases. Steam is DRM protection enough.
I really hope they'll remove this shit DRM because of this, I don't even want it on my system anymore.
It's both good and bad that this wasn't discovered later. Good because it would've been abused and would've been a cue for other companies to think through their DRM strategy, bad because you'd have innocent users that didn't know in the crossfire.

God bless the wonders of DRM
And what do you do when you find this exploit? Tell the company so they can fix it? No, tell the world to increase the chance of attacks! Christ sake.
And what do you do when you find this exploit? Tell the company so they can fix it? No, tell the world to increase the chance of attacks! Christ sake.
It takes time to fix these things you know, it's good its released to the public so people can actually protect themselves and disable it. If this weren't posted I would have no idea of this exploit and would be at risk, so I'm thankful.
And what do you do when you find this exploit? Tell the company so they can fix it? No, tell the world to increase the chance of attacks! Christ sake.
The RPS article only shares the exploit vector, not how to do the exploit itself. If it were, then you'd have a point, but your logic is flawed.
Almost felt from my chair laughing. I consider Kaspersky Internet Security as the best all-in-1 security tool for my home PCs and the one back at office. Now, if you can't afford it, or you run it on a crappy laptop, you don't deserve it and might consider it shitty. Try Avira/Panda and good luck on stopping anything trojan/phishing/browser related problems.
I have to say, i haven't seen such fanboyism with an antivirus program.
-whoops-
The RPS article only shares the exploit vector, not how to do the exploit itself. If it were, then you'd have a point, but your logic is flawed.
It doesn't take a genius to view page source of calculator page.
I hope this causes a PR disaster and they scrap that Uplay shit from all their future releases. Steam is DRM protection enough.
Steam is the the best DRM in existence. I won't say it's the perfect DRM until they fix offline mode fucking up.
So just disabling the plugin on your browser will keep you safe, right? I don't want to have to uninstall all my shit, wait until Ubisoft does something about this, then reinstall everything and start over from the beginning.

If you remove the plugin from your Browser, then the ActiveX Object excecuted by a Javascript on the Website has nothing that can communicate with it.
All this uPlay nonsense just to play Driver: San Fransisco. Oh well, at least I'm safe now.
I only have As. Creed 1 on steam (not on the list). Either way, I have Java disabled in Chrome and see no Uplay plugin. Either way this is bullshit. Is the Uplay addon supposed to make you stop pirating games or what?
Either way this is bullshit. Is the Uplay addon supposed to make you stop pirating games or what?
from the looks of it uplay was designed to encourage you to pirate games
I have Uplay installed, but I can't find the plugins and the test says I'm safe.
Its excecuted by javascript, and not java Big difference
Both of which we would be better off without anyways. They're both riddled with holes people! Just kill both of them already!
Damn, I only have that thing to just to play From Dust.
Haha fuck ubisoft
Ubisoft has released an update that fixes this, my uPlay just updated and the exploit doesn't work anymore.
Ubisoft has released an update that fixes this, my uPlay just updated and the exploit doesn't work anymore.
Any official word from them about it? RPS said any reports are currently all second-hand.
Especially being protected by microsoft. What a joke.
are you an idiot
This is why i have click to play enabled in chrome Edit: Also what's with the hate about kaspersky on the first page? I used kaspersky in ~2007 for a year and it was awesome but i use MSE or panda cloud nowadays
