Got any facts to back up that retarded ass claim
While I don't think it's reasonable to say that they resisted Obama just because he was black, to say that there wasn't a big race element is to ignore the birther movement.
No, only circumstantial evidence. I'm aware it's a bit of a strawman, but when the biggest objections I saw being raised to Obama in conservative media was whether he was really born in America and whether he was Muslim because his middle name was Hussein, I assumed that the right wing didn't have much ground to stand on.
Claims that both surfaced from the left during the 08 primaries between Clinton and Obama. And somehow Fox news = the GOP in congress now?
Claims that both surfaced from the left during the 08 primaries between Clinton and Obama. And somehow Fox news = the GOP in congress now?
No, the idea that Clinton started that controversy was a lie. You shouldn't buy into Trump's propaganda. If you're so certain that the GOP in congress shut down Obama for other reasons, pray tell what some of them were - and how they compare to the reasons I've given for the Democrats shutting Trump down moving forward.
imagine being so delusional you think Obama and Trump are somehow equal
Yeah, I feel sorry for the person that feels that way.

Clinton's always been scummy. But again, tell me why the GOP were so against Obama? What exactly did he do to threaten America early on in his time in office?
Unless I'm mistaken this is what the Republicans did after Obama was re-elected, correct?
This is what they did the first term, much less the second. Obama naively believed they could be brought to the table and compromise would happen and he wasted three years attempting to do so, which is why excutive order #340982309482309854209385-02385-2 happened with regularity afterward. The republican party and constituency genuinely actually really believe they are the smartest wisest people on planet eath because jesus and ronald reagan and they were born by manifested destiny and that their narcissistic views are how any and every society should always and forever operate. That is not hyperbolic overstatement, that is not sardonic sarcasm, that is their literal actual belief system, and it does not allow for compromise or reduction of policy. Strom Thurmond, Mitch McConnell, Dick Cheney.
:goodjob:
??? where them facts at
It is funny how huge hypocrites the democrats are after what happened to Obama and how strongly they themselves denounced that type of tactics. But then again, they consider themselves to have the moral high-ground. History repeats itself! Just reversed roles this time!
How do you feel about the comparison between Obama's birth certificate, versus Trump's tax returns? Would you disagree that there's more cause for concern about his tax returns? Do you disagree that Trump has been repeatedly dishonest about his tax returns (saying he couldn't release them due to the audit, saying he would release them after the audit, saying the people don't care)? Hopefully, you can agree that two 'parallel' situations can vary in quality and legitimacy. Obviously, bias can make it difficult to judge, but I dare say people have more legitimate reasons to oppose Trump than people did to oppose Obama.
Got any facts to back up that retarded ass claim
You must have missed Mitt Romney's 'these people' speech.
I'm not surprised at all. Clinton's always been scummy. But again, tell me why the GOP were so against Obama? What exactly did he do to threaten America early on in his campaign?
For starters they made something massive like Healthcare a purely partisan issue.
I'm gonna laugh when this hurts the Democrats instead of helps them like it did for the Republicans.
??? where them facts at
Maybe try clicking the link instead of shitposting and contributing zero to the thread bud
Maybe try clicking the link instead of shitposting and contributing zero to the thread bud
the link doesn't prove the birther movement started on the left though?
For starters they made something massive like Healthcare a purely partisan issue.
The Republicans did? Absolutely. Obama called on both parties to cooperate to provide Americans everywhere with affordable healthcare coverage, and the Republicans responded by stonewalling him. They stonewalled him on everything, to the point that government actually had to shut down because they wouldn't approve a budget. Tell me, how is that comparable to the things that I listed that Donald Trump has done?
Why is it hypocritical for the Democratic Party to oppose Donald Trump?
the Republicans responded by stonewalling him
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2009/sep/09/barack-obama/Obama-says-health-plan-incorporates-ideas-of-Democ/ Other way around
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2009/sep/09/barack-obama/Obama-says-health-plan-incorporates-ideas-of-Democ/ Other way around
All right, I was mistaken. The effort wasn't a bipartisan one. But the republicans still did respond by stonewalling him, until much later. Also, to corroborate my earlier assertion, there's this report about Obama's speech before congress in September 2009. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/09/obama.speech/index.html?eref=rss_us
President Obama on Wednesday made a passionate call for Congress to fix the nation's ailing health care system in the same spirit that created Social Security and Medicare in difficult times. In a joint speech to Congress heralded as vital to his push for a health care overhaul, Obama offered his most detailed outline for legislation while challenging Republican opponents to build on issues of agreement rather than play politics to exploit differences. He called for serious proposals from Democrats and Republicans to address chronic health care problems and rising costs, but warned he would not "waste time with those who have made the calculation that it's better politics to kill this plan than improve it." "I will not stand by while the special interests use the same old tactics to keep things exactly the way they are," Obama said to growing applause from Democrats. "If you misrepresent what's in the plan, we will call you out. And I will not accept the status quo as a solution. Not this time. Not now." In the Republican response, Rep. Charles Boustany of Louisiana, a surgeon, called for restarting the health care debate instead of proceeding with policies he claimed were opposed by the majority of the country. "Most Americans wanted to hear the president tell Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi, Majority Leader [Harry] Reid and the rest of Congress that it's time to start over on a common-sense, bipartisan plan focused on lowering the cost of health care while improving quality," he said. When Obama touched on the issue of health care coverage for illegal immigrants, the president's speech was interrupted by Rep. Joe Wilson, R-South Carolina, who shouted "you lie." Members of both parties condemned the heckling and, after the speech, Wilson issued a statement apologizing for his outburst. Read about Wilson's outburst Obama, offering his first real blueprint for a bill, touched on issues that have dominated the health-care debate at town hall meetings across the country during the congressional recess in August.

Republicans are unanimous in opposing a public option, calling it an unfair competitor that would drive private insurers from the market and lead to a government takeover of health insurance. Obama rejected that claim as a false allegation intended to scare people.
I think that evidence supports the statement I made - That Obama called for support from both parties on creating affordable healthcare for Americans, but that he was stonewalled by Republicans.
Democrats probably assume they have a mandate, given the widescale protests and rock-bottom approval ratings Trump is experiencing.
4 years of utter, useless gridlock is better than what Trump and the Republicans want to implement.
4 years of utter, useless gridlock is better than what Trump and the Republicans want to implement.
I'm sure this is what Republicans thought of Obama.
I'm sure this is what Republicans thought of Obama.
except obama wasn't doing fascist shit in his first week in office
Except they didn't have a justifiable reason
A "justifiable reason" could constitute a Congressman and his/her constituents disagreeing with the executive branches point of view.
except obama wasn't doing fascist shit in his first week in office
I'm not quite at the point where I think Trump is a fascist but fair point.
A "justifiable reason" could constitute a Congressman and his/her constituents disagreeing with the executive branches point of view. I'm not quite at the point where I think Trump is a fascist but fair point.
I do understand your point actually, though the circumstances were very different, it still does seem a bit hypocritical. Personally, i wish the dems just go with the obvious option of "block anything stupid trump tries" At least that would leave a gap for whatever rare good thing to be able to get through
I'm not quite at the point where I think Trump is a fascist but fair point.
He's Fascish.
Claims that both surfaced from the left during the 08 primaries between Clinton and Obama. And somehow Fox news = the GOP in congress now?
Where they originated doesn't matter: who perpetuated them is the more important factor. President Trump was the loudest voice in the country demanding to see Obama's birth certificate to prove he wasn't a Kenyan Muslim. Whether or not you believe he is personally racist (signs point to yes), he and the right wing have absolutely been deliberately courting racists and xenophobes for political expediency.
What other option do we have to be honest. We elected a reasonable man and they spent eight years fighting tooth and nail and screeching about him. Then they turn around and elect a drooling retard and we're expected to let him do what he wants? Lying down and taking it sounds like the perfect way to give complete control of the government to the exact kinds of people who shouldn't have it. I think obstructionism is scummy but if someone attacks you with the worst of intent, you're left with no choice but to take whatever action is necessary to defend yourself.
Yep. Looks like they're wisening up and understand that now is the time to capitalize on all the hatred and resentment that's erupted not even a week into this man's presidency, towards both him, his cronies, and the Republican Party in general. This is good. Keep that hatred going. It's justified, and it's high time we do something about these people.
