Offline mode is bugged up the fuckin' ass. It's never worked properly.
You're doing it wrong. You can only go to Offline Mode from Online Mode. Log into Steam, select "Go offline", unplug your laptop and don't reboot.
Every time there is no internet and I want to play a game steam says "You need to be connected to the web to use offline mode"
Wow.
:smug:
Hey guys let's boycott our competitors with one of the most anticipated titles of the year.
All the while, ValvE had this to say: :smug:
hellllllll yea!
Steam is great
Trojan horse?! IN MY KINGDOM!?!
god I remember when steam was a worthless pile of shit and D2D was the new big thing guess the tables turned
Yeah, that bit floored me. Just because it's a competing service doesn't mean you can slander it like that. I mean, yeah, I hate Steam just as much as the next guy. It's slow, bloated, horrible-looking, and I hate being forced to run superfluous shit just to play the games I bought. But you have to deal with it if you like any of Valve's games, and its advantages completely outweigh its few minor negative aspects, so I think calling it a 'trojan horse' is a bit extreme.
lmfao its incredible in here with the steam and microsoft fanboys! Who let the hermaphrodite in here? Get out!

Steam has been great in the 4 or so years I've used it, it's handy to keep all your games updated, it's crashed a few times but nothing unusual. However, I don't think you should have Steam installed just to play a game which you didn't even buy via Steam. EA aren't even publishing MW2, so I don't even understand why Steam should be involved.
I think Steam is fine, I've only had 1 or 2 problems with it, and those were quickly resolved. I also think that transactions are incredibly easy and the service itself is overall accurate and efficient.
Because of steam , i haven't bought a game on disk for a good 4 years. Steam made me allergic to disk, i sue kay?
D2D and Impulse both sucked and I have never heard of gamersgate
That's uh... unusual. Never had any problem with D2D, never received less than my maximum download speed, and any time a game with DRM gave me shit about activation limits, they gave me a key with unlimited uses. Guess it just goes to show how much consumer experiences can differ.
It did used to work then a friend gifted me something and i couldn't buy anything
Steam is a great service.
Except when your internet is down or you're on your laptop where there's no wifi, and Steam has some retarded reason why it won't run in offline mode. Offline mode should be 100% reliable.
Steam is quite simply the best gaming 'platform' available. I don't think I've bought a game from GameStop in over 3 years, and I've never bought a game from D2D or Impulse. Hell, I've never even heard of Gamersgate. They all sound about as useful as EA Download Manager. Keep in mind they're outdated as well! Missing Left 4 Dead 2 and Shattered Horizon.
Nice. I got 95.
saw it coming imo steam is taking over games mw2 isn't even PB anymore, it's VAC :frown:
why would you add a :frown: after VAC is something wrong with you, go to a hospital or something
Punkbuster never let me play my games when I was using Rivatuner. Fan speed = h4x
saw it coming imo steam is taking over games mw2 isn't even PB anymore, it's VAC :frown:
Are you implying PB is in any way superior to VAC?
They're dumb: Sell it: They gain money, customer uses Steam, may or may not like it. Don't Sell it: They don't gain money, customer uses Steam, and likes it because they never used the other online vendors.
saw it coming imo steam is taking over games mw2 isn't even PB anymore, it's VAC :frown:
What do you mean, that's the only good thing about its MP.
saw it coming imo steam is taking over games mw2 isn't even PB anymore, it's VAC :frown:
Are you mad? VAC actually updates itself while PB says it does, when in actual fact you always have to update it. And VAC doesn't ban/kick you for stupid reasons like Corrupt packet file which happens all the time.
saw it coming imo steam is taking over games mw2 isn't even PB anymore, it's VAC :frown:
Punkbuster is the shittiest anti-cheating program out there, period.
I want to buy it to play the pretty awesome looking single player and support that but not to help reinforce the idea of crippling the multiplayer system fuck's sake Also points for D2D throwing toys out of pram
I want to buy it to play the pretty awesome looking single player and support that but not to help reinforce the idea of crippling the multiplayer system fuck's sake Also points for D2D throwing toys out of pram
I am also in this situation. I want to play it for the singleplayer, but don't want to give them the impression that people actually support them on the whole multiplayer issue.
