How about researching what happened a bit or just look at the first post on this pages. They did not opt to kick her out, she was in the hospital for over 7 hours, they did do standard operating procedure on her and it came up negative. This would have happened in any hospital, it has nothing to do with the current health care in the U.S.
If a person complains of severe pain, you are supposed to do further testing. There are plenty of diseases that don't show up in tests. Any doctor worth their weight should know tests aren't 100% accurate.
How sad is it that I knew it was in America just by reading the title ?
Yeah calling EMS is quite expensive, but the medics and EMTs on the ambulance on board don't really give a shit if you can pay or not, they dont even handle that. They just get you to the ER alive. Most people in hospitals you'll find don't give a two shits if a patient can pay or not, RNs, doctors, RTs, techies, etc etc, it's not their job to know your financial status, just to treat you. It's usually the case manager that handles the registration, that cares about your money and is likely to make judgment on your if you can or can't pay. Money and Insurance has really no play, it was a bad call on the doctors part because he assumed, he should of done a better assessment on her, and not of been so fast on discharging her when she was clearly still in pain.
Completely true. The people treating you generally don't give a fuck about if you can pay or not. The guys on the ambulance aren't even allowed to check to see if you have insurance until after they're done treating you (though to be fair that didn't stop Dr. Reddy from doing it while he still owned AMR).
Uh no, she wouldn't have been forced to leave and they wouldn't have refused to treat her. [editline]30th March 2012[/editline] She was in pain and had visible signs, they had enough to keep her. Only reason she was kicked out was because of money. So don't tell me Socialised medicine would have done the exact same thing.
The doctor made a mistake, it happens and now he has to live with it. It has nothing to do with the finances of it though. You're just trying to find excuses to rip on American health care. Shouldn't be surprised though since it's you.
How sad is it that I knew it was in America just by reading the title ?
Probably because that's the only thing you read.

why does america hate black people so much
Wow, doctor refusing to treat a patient? What about their oath?
Wow, doctor refusing to treat a patient? What about their oath?
the hippocratic oath doesn't really matter
If a person complains of severe pain, you are supposed to do further testing. There are plenty of diseases that don't show up in tests. There was no reason to believe she had blood clots so logically no further testing would have been done for blood clotting. It works this way in hospitals all around the world, its stupid to blame her death on Americas health care system.
