I see no valid reason in that argument to ban whaling. The amount of intelligence a species has or because you have "feelings" for it does not automatically remove it from the prey and predator chain it has been in for thousands of years. It wont and never will.
We humans are part of that chain and we play our role. It's nature.

They are getting closer but people don't want "frankenstein food" or whatever. I think it's a great idea myself. If we can eat the same meat without killing an animal that's a miracle.
It would prolly be expensive though

They already did it.
It's just that they have to make it tasty. To get a meaty texture you have to exercise the culture. Hydraulic frames would work, but there is still a lot of things to work out.
What's the source for the news story in the OP?
