who cares if they suffer like we do. kill them anyway. i'd say every animal feels pain and suffering and if your willing to kill pigs why should whales get off scott free.
you actually make a good point about pigs even if you didn't mean it, pigs are even more intelligent than monkeys, so anyone who has a problem eating dolphin or monkey is a hypocrite if they still eat pig.
Actually, according to recent studies, Ants are amazingly similar to us. Who's to say they don't have Ant-Facepunch?
No. Ants are intelligent as a whole, individually they barely even have a brain like most insects, and most of what they do is determined by pheromones and reaction, not thought or even emotion.
What if aliens come from another planet. Is it alright to eat them even if they are every bit as smart as people? Is it morally right to hunt and kill other humans?
There is no right or wrong, there is only opinion.

Actually there are biological imperatives for altruism which humans as a species have been developing culturally for hundreds of years

Dolphins are a lot smarter than pigs.
I have no problem with someone eating a monkey as long as the species isn't endangered.
How would Japan feel if some alien ship landed there and started hunting them with harpoons, slicing them apart while still alive, or seeing their family get murdered, while barely surviving.
Well, God didn't give them souls so their "sentience" doesn't matter.
Also, you people holding animal life above human life are appalling. You'll be in my prayers.
What's the source for the news story in the OP?
