I remember that dog always being on the search thing on windows xp, cool
How are you all able to not understand what he means? He means stuff like Siri and Google Now which have the ability to be "personable", rather than some animated avatar on your screen.

This is an improvement to UX for devices that don't have dedicated keyboards.
"It was ahead of its time, like most of our mistakes"
Okay so when you re-releasing Vista
It should also not require a condescending anthropomorphized dog to help you open your facebook account.
I'm not saying they have to know how to handle registry changes but I get asked the dumbest questions sometimes and this would only make it worse
No, more exposure and time with a computer is the only way to help answer those questions.
The only reason all of us are seen as the "tech person" within our own families is because we spend the most time on the computer.
Bringing back Microsoft Bob (which was an awesome idea btw, even if the execution could've been better) would not lead to stupider computer users. A lack of time spent in front of a computer leads to stupid computer people.

Computer interfaces are stupidly unintuitive- how many people here have had to explain to a family member that you don't need to double click a link?
As computers get smarter and human interface software becomes more predictive and developed, the idea of a responsive user assistant is bound to return. This concept in the form of voice activation has already come to handheld devices (Siri) and consoles (Xbox) so it's only a matter of time before it comes to PC as well.

I'm going to smash my skull in if I have to hear another person say "clicking the link only makes it load twice as slow."
So many people do it and the fact that my grade school teachers had to constantly remind little kids not to do it - let alone grown men and women - is frustrating.
Bring back Microsoft comic chat
Bring back Microsoft comic chat
oh shit that was aaawesomee
Comic sans was invented to be easily readible under low res, aliased text. That's why it shouldn't be used today.
I thought MS Bob was an idea by Melinda Gates?
No, not exactly.
Microsoft Bob was designed for Windows 95 and Windows NT, and intended to be a user-friendly interface for Microsoft Windows, supplanting the Program Manager. The project leader for Bob was Karen Fries, a Microsoft researcher. The design was based on research by Professors Clifford Nass and Byron Reeves of Stanford University. At one point, Bill Gates's wife Melinda Gates worked as one of the Marketing Managers on the project.
So I'm not the only one here that watched the Comic Sans Vsauce video.
