I am pretty sure you can play PSP games bought on the playstation store on the vita.

I think you can but the PSP games got to be from PSN which is still bull. I so far see no reason to buy the Vita maybe sometime from now the when the thing is cheaper and being sold with Memcard and game with it

Technically it can since the backwards compatibility is there, but Sony hasn't arranged for it very well. Those with a Ps3 can transfer PSP games like this.
Yeah the problem is is that i got 11-12 PSP disks (UMD) worth a little over 300 dollar or something. And now Sony tells me to purchase my games again? Fuck off Sony
And Sony wonders why smartphone game companies have success while they're stuck with a borderline failure? Also emulators, replay your childhood over and over instead of getting reamed from behind by a army of greedy men wearing business suits.
Maybe if the memory cards weren't so expensive I might care less.
Does the Vita still use those ridiculous Pro Duo sticks? The cost of those is atrocious. Better yet, get your hands on a bluetooth controller and use that instead of on-screen controls (which generally aren't bad but controller is better). Then you can use your tablet for all your other shit too.
Well, this is one of Sony's worst ideas yet, Apart from maybe bringing the PSN down for 2 months.
PSP Go?
The PS Vita is a great piece of kit and this 1.80 update (minus the news of well... this) is amazing. It's a shame Sony keep shooting themselves in the foot, as the Vita has the ability to be one of the best handhelds out there

Downside.. Well there are a lot of downsides, 'PS3 has no games' could be applied to the PS Vita as well :v:
I wanted a Vita but I was waiting for a price drop and for better games to come out. Now I know to avoid it until they pull this crap out of the software.
Vita is the most awesome handheld gaming system the world has ever seen, and it keeps getting fucked over by Sony. I can't for the life of me see what they think they're accomplishing with this constant stream of restrictions. Not really gonna affect me personally, but I can imagine somebody in North America wanting access to all the PS1 classics would get mighty upset with this.
YOu can play any of the PS1 classics if you download the installer to your PS3 and transfer it to your Vita.

I'm referring to Uncharted: GA & Wipeout 2048,which are solid titles. If cross-buy is implemented in the majority of titles, it may make the Vita a lot more popular, but thats probably not going to happen with the amount of time and money devs and publishers have.
Is this a big ploy to make people buy the PSP now instead? Because so far that's all people have really done.
Is this a big ploy to make people buy the PSP now instead? Because so far that's all people have really done.
Actually that was on the news lately PSP sales are increasing while the Vita sales are staying the same/going down
and i was going to buy a vita good thing i didnt
I'm a console collector so I'll probably pick one up at some point, but hopefully the price will drop.
This could not have been more poorly timed for me; a demo for a Japan-only game that I want to play just came out. I don't have a Vita of my own yet, so my friend said he'd lend me his to use. But he only has one memory card, so now I can't swap to my Japanese account to download the demo unless I go out and buy a whole memory card. Why, Sony? Why?
and i was going to buy a vita good thing i didnt
How does this news article change anything for you? The PS Vita is locked to one PSN account in the first place.
They do something similar with PS3 HDDs, you can't move a drive between consoles, they are coded to the PS3 that formats them, and require a format in any later consoles. It's a fucking nightmare if your PS3 dies, but at least you can still transfer these memory cards if your Vita dies or something.
Just get a fresh hard drive, it isn't restricted to just one HDD any SATA will do (I mean the ones that fit obviously)
