there's individual streamers streaming league now that have more viewers than all the people watching dota 2 right now
at least riot doesnt use multiple channels to inflate overall viewer count
Jesus you're a moron. DotA 2 isn't broadcasting today so it's expected to have less viewers, while in the meantime Riot is live-streaming their tournament.
Just wait until the international really kicks off because for the last couple of days those where just pre-rounds.
how are you even defending riot, every time i go into the LoL thread you're complaining about something in the game
he's just a troll, he's validating his argument through misinformation and ignorance
17k viewers on dota with no popular streamers or games being played? ded game guys
also popularity doesn't even equate to quality especially considering how well riot has done establishing and marketing their game as their primary function. The majority of LoL's fanbase is under 20 while dota is the opposite.
if you want to talk shit about dota consider the fact that LoL is pay to win (or you can grind*)
there's individual streamers streaming league now that have more viewers than all the people watching dota 2 right now
Streamers are a bigger deal in lol than in dota. Also you took the picture during the LCS, which is a big lol event.
What's even better is that Dota 2 during the group stage before eliminations was 250k+ alone on twitch.
+ around 300k ingame
there's individual streamers streaming league now that have more viewers than all the people watching dota 2 right now
Well, I suppose a thread like this would devolve into this childish shit eventually.
I'm just glad competitive E-sports is getting more and more exposure these days. I wouldn't be surprised if it was as large as regular sports within a decade.
if you want to talk shit about dota consider the fact that LoL is pay to win (or you can grind*)
ahh this argument again
there's not a single thing in lol that affects gameplay that cant be earnt through playing the game
there's individual streamers streaming league now that have more viewers than all the people watching dota 2 right now
"A lot of people like what I like so it's the best"
"I'm going to tell people on the internet that the free video game I play is better than the free video game that they play"
"I'm going to derail a thread because I don't like the video game it's about"
Seriously, what are you even trying to accomplish?
Well, I suppose a thread like this would devolve into this childish shit eventually.
I'm just defending riot dude. The childish shit began with the very first fucking reply
ahh this argument again

Who the hell cares.
Well, I suppose a thread like this would devolve into this childish shit eventually.

The soon the shit ends, the better. I bet football players dont brag about them 'beating' hockey players.
Who the hell cares.
dota players apparently, cause its the only argument they ever use
I'm just defending riot dude. The childish shit began with the very first fucking reply
The first reply implies that it was time for Riot to step up their game in order to continue the competition between both games. It doesn't imply anything negative or harmful towards Riot or LoL.
ahh this argument again
there's not a single thing in lol that affects gameplay that cant be earnt through playing the game
Grinding thousands of games just to get all the champions and runes must be a really fun time
at least riot doesnt use multiple channels to inflate overall viewer count
While League usually has a higher viewer count on twitch than Dota 2, today's one terrible day to extract decisive stats considering:
- all of the major streamers/personalities are at TI4 right now, mostly using the rare opportunity to meet everyone rather than stream
- TI4 is currently on a break until the big matches start (tomorrow I believe)
- After so many wildcard and playoffs matches, even the viewers are glad there's a break until the big games
ahh this argument again
there's not a single thing in lol that affects gameplay that cant be earnt through playing the game
I've been in disadvantageous positions before due to not owning a champion. I wouldn't consider it pay to win, but it really is in a very small way.
also is anyone even considering watching TI4 on ESPN? What's the point?
ahh this argument again
there's not a single thing in lol that affects gameplay that cant be earnt through playing the game
pay to win means there's an unfair advantage for people who can buy things over people that need to grind for them
that's pay to win by definition
if the free hero pool excluded hero counters and you were able to buy an expensive hero that affects the overall gameplay that's kinda unfair, using the "you can grind" excuse is pretty bullshit
im just proving that these guys are idiots:
Your move, Riot.

Riot's playing checkers, when Valve is playing Chess.

Riot just got their shit wrecked.

Wonder how many people in Riot's marketing division are jumping out of their windows now

ahh this argument again

yes, in a game with a stale as fuck meta for each character and focuses on counters for characters, its really fair to make it so you have to unlock heroes either with money or forced to play a rotation.

It's also funny when Riot releases a new champion, hes expensive and op as fuck. But a month later the champion is nerfed to shit to make way for the new champion. Rinse and repeat.

That alone is not a good criterion if you ask me. You can (from what I heard) play all of EA's new Dungeon Keeper without paying a dime, but that's such a painful grind nobody would want to put up with it.
-snip- this is too off-topic
im just proving that these guys are idiots:
Point proved. Let's move on to the infinitely more important debate
EG 4 TI4 champs, DK can suck a dick
Yeah that's cuz we have a full-featured in-game live spectating and replay system that has DVR-like time controls and benefits for spectating games through the client.
Of course we don't watch it with plebian video streaming with compression and shit.
I've found in game to be a poor experience. Latency issues, stuttering, commentator audio cutting out, etc. And who wants to boot up Dota 2 when I can just keep a stream in a tab on my other monitor.
im just proving that these guys are idiots:
Damn dude how do you have 1200 posts in the league thread alone.
he's just a troll, he's validating his argument through misinformation and ignorance

pretty sure this post gave me a little bit cancer but w/e.
personally i find it fun to watch the dota 2 people spaz out about everything.
I've found in game to be a poor experience. Latency issues, stuttering, commentator audio cutting out, etc. And who wants to boot up Dota 2 when I can just keep a stream in a tab on my other monitor.
It's much more engaging to watch it in-game because perfect video quality, and you get to see it live. Not LIVE live, just the actual spectating delay that all mobas have in order to prevent ghosting. On a stream you have to deal with not only that, but the stream delay as well.
There are some occasional errors though, in that case switch over to the stream.
im just proving that these guys are idiots:
papaya has a point though, it feels like the dota 2 people on facepunch are trying really hard to create rivalry between people that play dota 2 and league and in general acting like cunts.
while we actually don't really give a shit.
