I love the new players stream. I have 400 hours of dota but I still watch it, just because I love the personalities.
The first reply implies that it was time for Riot to step up their game in order to continue the competition between both games. It doesn't imply anything negative or harmful towards Riot or LoL.
I find it good that Dota 2 is trying to compete against league, considering it aint near as big as league is.
im just proving that these guys are idiots:
You're making yourself look like a moron in the process.
I'm just defending riot dude. The childish shit began with the very first fucking reply
Learn to let go, Riot aren't your friends, they haven't done anything for you, besides make a game you like. There's no need to be such a fanboy, it derrails the thread and makes you look bad.
papaya has a point though, it feels like the dota 2 people on facepunch are trying really hard to create rivalry between people that play dota 2 and league and in general acting like cunts. while we actually don't really give a shit.
Maybe outside the Dota 2 forum. I don't remember the last time LoL was mentioned in the Dota forum.

I do agree that I've seen a lot of dota players do it on FP, even though I play dota, but I think the phrase "we don't actually give a shit" is false, if you look at papaya. people in the dota 2 section sometimes bring up league, but not often, I think it's the same thing in the league threads, but I've never read them.

I play LoL almost exclusively and Riot did indeed just get blown the fuck up. Kudos Valve
I love the new players stream. I have 400 hours of dota but I still watch it, just because I love the personalities.
when I looked at the sheer number of streams available while the international was on I noticed the newbie stream. I gotta say the idea of a stream just for new players is a good one, though I think the presenters of the LCS do a fine job at making stuff clear for even new players and monkey san puts across what I want to say much more clearly than I could if you look at any thread in the News Node or sensationalist headlines forum about league, it's near guaranteed to contain some dota 2 player bashing it for whatever reason. I've rarely, if ever, seen a person who frequently posts in the LoL thread jump into a dota 2 thread and start bashing dota 2 (until now, before someone says that). A lot of people who play league may also play Dota 2, but for some reason I never hear of anyone who does it the other way round. Dota players feel the need to constantly reassure themselves that they're playing the superior game.
its funny because you're the one who started going omg lol is better in the first place
could you please read the first few posts of this thread again? thanks.
Dota players feel the need to constantly reassure themselves that they're playing the superior game.
because 2-3 people posting the same things in the "in the news" forums over and over again mirrors dota players right.
at least riot doesnt use multiple channels to inflate overall viewer count
and this is completely stupid. you had 4 games going on at the same time during the playoffs (phases), so you had the main multicast channel, and 2 (3 with the newbie stream) other english streams. then you also had ~2 russian streams, ~2 chinese streams, ~2 korean streams because why? because multilingual broadcasting that covers all games.
riot have done more to make it seen as a legitimate sport than dota has
more like riot has done everything in its power to make league an "esport".

I didn't know that was an issue because I don't browse LoL threads. But, I mean, bashing dota 2 players back isn't going to fix anything. It's 2014, you should know that no one ever really wins "my video games is better" fights.
What does any of this have to do with League?
could you please read the first few posts of this thread again? thanks.
Your argument is either wrong or 'league has more viewers'. So what? I think valve do a much better job at making esports worthwhile to watch and what they have just done is another step forward to promote viewership.
could you please read the first few posts of this thread again? thanks.
All I see are people talking shit about Riot, not really anything about LoL itself. No one was saying one game was better then the other, just that it was impressive that Dota 2 is being brought to television while Riot has yet to do the same for LoL.
I'm pretty sure there are like no streamers streaming dota 2 right now because they are at the international.
I'm pretty sure there are like no streamers streaming dota 2 right now because they are at the international.
Y'know, that $10mill tournament.
No one had even brought up League except for one person who was just saying they play both games until Papaya showed up
but bringing up riot is bringing up league when literally all riot does is league though so that's not really an argument
lcs isn't the major tournament though haha worlds and all stars are
then let's look at the world championship prize pool if you want to get into that, considering papaya was talking about lcs. world all star the prize money for last year's world championship for league was still only a hair away from the international 2 back in 2012.
It's also funny when Riot releases a new champion, hes expensive and op as fuck. But a month later the champion is nerfed to shit to make way for the new champion. Rinse and repeat.
Well, Dota does that to an extent, new heroes are often a bit powerful when they're added, though this is mostly for bug testing, and they're kept out of captain's mode, or usually stay in Dota 1 until they're ready.
riot didn't get donations for prize pool as i understand ti did/does currently
the first 2 international's took no community pool and both were 1.6 mil prize pool. barely a difference compared to riot's 2 mil. Valve probably has office chairs made of solid gold or something. actually do they? I just assumed since they get so much from steam and tf2 and now dota that they must have enough lying about to throw at prize pools. I don't really follow how profitable valve has been but I assume the answer is very

It's not like they're lacking on money. Being Riot's first game isn't an excuse. It's not even a good one. You said it yourself...
LCS has consistently more viewers compared to a one off event like the international the stadium that the season 3 finals were held in is larger than the one the international is held in league is played by more people worldwide than dota league has been talked about by espn before
So why is this being Riot's first game suddenly an issue? They're clearly a big company with lots of money, having the ability to run it's own league and fund it's own prize pools and pay it's own players, right?
Damn Facepunch at it's lowest point arguing about Dota 2 vs League, they are two diff games with 2 diff play styles. You guys need to get over it and stop defending each game like it's your child, but honestly while this does seem like a cool idea, it's just gonna spawn a wave of "ESPORTS AREN'T A REAL SPORT ALL THEY ARE DOING IS PLAYING GAMES AND NOT FOOTBALL" arguments across old people. And considering the fact it's on ESPN it's going to cause a massive shitstorm across hardcore sports fans.
