I use both both of these but I still get ad shit coming through somehow. Noscript kind of becomes useless when you have a massive list of links you have to allow to get stuff to work as well.
You can still go to websites with massive links just disable any scripts that look suspicious, of course this is difficult if you aren't experienced in using the program. It took me two years to figure out how to use the program 100%.

It's called click jacking.
Why can't ads just be like
"Hey buy mcdonalds n shit it tastes good and all that"
why does it have to be
"MOMS ONLY--FREE COLLEGE CHOOSE YOUR AGE!!!!!"
I would gladly stop using adblock if the ads were from normal reputable companies instead of a bunch of scam sites.

If you actually cared you would donate cash directly to sites you frequent.
Even donating five dollars nets them infinitely more than they would ever get from you seeing ads, the amount of money they get per ad view is absurdly small, it's not even 1/4 of a cent IIRC.
Exactly!
I have all of my plugins set to "ask to activate". But the ads I hate the most are the video ones that auto play. For some reason, ABP doesn't block them all.
Not many people get actual viruses anymore. Most of the computers I clean just have mostly malware and adware instead of actual viruses (like trojans, etc...). In fact, it's usually the same steps.

Anti-Virus programs have gotten pretty solid. 90% of infections tend to be either malware or "Microsoft"
Paying for antivirus programs is a waste of money, just get a good free antivirus program like Avast. Keep good browsing habits and use programs like sandboxie if you want to go to a website you don't recognize.

it's been known for a while now that the ABP guys have been getting a little cheddar on the side for whitelisting some ads here and there
I always get those damn popups while on Mediafire and AdBlock isn't doing crap to stop it.
Shame really, since Mediafire is one of the best DL sites out there besides MEGA.
It might just be because I have the original AdBlock and maybe ABP prevents those from appearing.
Why don't they make all ads an image with a link? It would remove all possibilities of malware and improve performance of websites. It may even convince me to disable adblock just to see creative and funny ads.
Ad block plus has a whitelist of websites that follow their strict add standards for exactly this reason.
Earlier I forgot to also mention a computer program you can buy called deep freeze, which you can use to freeze your computer so nothing can be changed on it until you unfreeze it. But it's pretty expensive.

There are some pretty good paid anti-virus programs that trump avast such as kaspersky, but if you have common sense you'll probably be just fine with avast. Especially if you backup your shit.
Free Avast.

Literally all you should ever need.

This thread made me start using adblock, not for the risk of malware, but because ads were getting a bit on my nerves, and everyone talks so highly of it.
Dotabuff used to be filled with ads on the sides. Now, its like a baby's ass! Clean and smooth!
Best way to test it? Go on piratebay.
No more ads with girls taking it up the ass with a "argh it hurts like a motherfucker but its good" face!

Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit is also helpful in situations like this.
