I like the human body being pure. There's nothing more to that. Adding permanent marks likes tattoos and piercings goes against that.
What defines "pure" to you? People cut their hair into different designs and nobody complains about that. People shave - that's not natural or pure.
Also, piercings aren't permanent in the slightest. Ask anyone who's lost an earring before. You can pop out 95% of piercings and they'll heal right back up with zero issue.
Are henna tattoos not pure? They're not permanent. Alcohol? Nicotine? Caffeine? They're intoxicants that throw off your natural balance, that can't be pure either.
So to you, people who go against your idea of the human body being pure. Suddenly dictates that they are lower than you, or people whom you've no desire to spend time with or talk to?
That's...pretty sad.
Now you're just putting words in my mouth. I'm done arguing. You're not going to change my mind on it.

I'm fine with small ones. It's when you put enough to cover a part of your body is where the line is drawn.
And thats totally cool m80, im not going to judge you for not liking tattoos or not having any body mods- its your body and you can do or not do whatever you like with it, just please try to have the same courtesy towards people who do have tattoos or body mods done.

Gee, settle down, he just said he doesn't likes piercings and tattoos, as in, an OPINION. He didn't say people who do it are automatically scrubs or something...

I don't go up and harass people with them. I'm just less inclined to talk with them.

Uhh you said it yourself.
I wouldn't call them stupid choices, but I don't like body modifications and am generally uncomfortable with people with tattoos and piercings.

The kind of people who generally get tattoos and piercings are generally the kind of people I don't like or would like to be around.
Actually he sort of did.
I don't go up and harass people with them. I just don't go up to and talk to them.
So if you were screening candidates for a new job and you had two deserving applicants, one slightly more qualified than the other but with tattoos, you'd quietly give it to the less qualified person because you wouldn't feel comfortable working with someone with inked skin?
Uhh you said it yourself.

So not liking a type of people = "they are beneath me"
It's this kind of reasoning I hate to see during discussions here in SH.
The kind of people who generally get tattoos and piercings are generally the kind of people I don't like or would like to be around. The lady in the OP falls into it. I know it's generalizing and you'll try to show counter examples, but body mods have never sat well with me. I just don't like the idea of piercing your skin or putting ink in it.
"I don't like people that are different than me because they have a little ink or metal on their skin". Pretty dickish thing to say.
Don't know why I'm getting rated dumb for quoting what he said to prove my point.

You're not allowed to have a personal preferences without being called a bigot.
Hot.

The fact that he dislikes someone and says HIMSELF that the "Kinds of people who get them" are people he has no interest in, is made uncomfortable by and wouldn't want to be around without knowing them merely implies that he thinks lower of them. Purely because they have some ink on their body or some metal in their skin.
"I don't like people that are different than me because they have a little ink or metal on their skin". Pretty dickish thing to say.
It is not dickish to not like someone. They're just not my type.
I'm glad you know more about me than I do. I just wanted to give my opinion of body mods and why I don't like them. There's nothing more that I can say that won't result in at least 5 people quoting me and calling me a bigot.
Do you know what insecurity is? If you say "are generally the kind of people I don't like or would like to be around", it's because you are insecure of them.
Where did I call you bigot anyway?

Implications aren't proof.

he's calling into question the nature of people he's never met, or the random passersby he's glanced at based off their physical appearance. nobody should ever settle down when facing bigotry.
It is not dickish to not like someone. They're just not my type.
you're really saying it's not a dick move to categorize someone baselessly?
thanks for your wisdom
They have been talking about including tattoos/piercings into the discrimination laws regarding job prospects, as these things have become a lot more fashionable.
It is not dickish to not like someone. They're just not my type.
You'd judge someone with a tattoo or piercing before their personality and character but you probably wouldn't do the same with someone without. How conflicted is that when you meet some asshole without tattoos and a really nice guy with them?

Tattoos and piercings are a base. Just like brunettes are not or fat people are not my type. Not talking about romantic relationships here. If I don't like your appearance I don't, that's the end of it.

So you're pretentious.

Judging and not liking is not the same thing
Implications aren't proof.
So basing your judgements and implicating that a certain "People" whom get tattoos and piercings are not to his liking or standards isn't some form of judging? He doesn't know the damn "People" in question and as such purely tells us he finds it unpure. I don't understand how first page people agree with me, but second page comes and it's dumbs. Right....
So you're pretentious.
Yeah and I assume you don't like pretentious people and that's okay.
Tattoos and piercings are a base. Just like brunettes are not or fat people are not my type. Not talking about romantic relationships here. If I don't like your appearance I don't, that's the end of it.
That is an entirely diffrent ball game to not wanting to be around them.
Judging and not liking is not the same thing
Plus you would immediately not like a person without even giving a second thought.
What a terrible attitude, fuck the tattoos and piercings, you're a disgusting person with that trait.

Plus? What plus? I am not judging anyone. You have tattoos? Good for you. I don't like tattoos so by default I will be less likely to approach you. That's about it.
So you're pretentious.
To be honest, you come off as pretentious. Not everyone has to like everything.
So basing your judgements and implicating that a certain "People" whom get tattoos and piercings are not to his liking or standards isn't some form of judging? The whole purity thing is just the foundation. I also think they just look ugly.
You assume that people with tattoos or piercings are people you wouldn't want to be around, just because they have tattoos or piercings. This is like arbitrarily judging someone for liking a certain type of music, or for liking anime, or for having a particular style of dress - simply because it "doesn't sit well" with you. It's completely irrational, you know.

You're being called a bigot because you are exhibiting bigoted behavior.
Okay, now go argue that anyone who says they don't like Justin Bieber fans is being bigoted and irrational and see how far that gets you. It's funny because I see all sorts of generalizations on this forum about ICP fans, neckbeards, weeaboos, feminists, Homestuck fans, social justice warriors, conservatives, preachy Christians, vegans, republicans, and nobody seems to give a shit. But a guy says he doesn't like tattoos and suddenly WHOAH, HOLD UP, THAT'S BIGOTRY.
People generalize all the time, anyone who says they don't is a liar, and there's literally decades of behavioral psychology to prove it. But there's a big difference between generalizing a group and making assumptions about individuals. He didn't say anyone who gets a tattoo is a terrible person or whatever, I don't see why you're all jumping down his throat about something that doesn't affect you in the slightest.

Thanks for a more specific explanation of what I just said?
