he's calling into question the nature of people he's never met, or the random passersby he's glanced at based off their physical appearance. nobody should ever settle down when facing bigotry.
As I said, appearances do matter. He's not calling the nature of the people into question, he just doesn't likes the way they look for whatever reason lol
But people are twisting this, saying he HATES them because of their body mods.
So, because I don't like a certain kind of people and have no interest in them, I'm actually saying they are beneath me because of their choices?
Where the hell do you get all of this stuff? It's like you're trying to find a reason to be mad and to call someone a bigot.
Not once have I said I'm mad at him or once called him a bigot. I just find his disposition on something this trivial somewhat mind boggling.
You are the one whom bought up looks in relation to looking after yourself. Hence Health...so technically we are.
Are we? You can be perfectly healthy but wear shitty clothes, have messy hair, ugly neckbeard and so on. None of these look factors have anything to do with health.
I won't approach people wearing v necks
omg hhahahahahahah you can't be real
It's not an assumption, it's a question, that's why there's an interrogation point at the end of the sentences.
TALK ABOUT ASSUMPTIONS.
Well they're loaded questions, so it's not hard to see your assumptions about me
You might not like tattoos or piercings but if that makes it more likely of you not to approach them, it goes beyond not liking them.
It's okay if you don't like those things but to disregard those people just because they have the body mods is fucked up.
Well they're loaded questions, so it's not hard to see your assumptions about me
OK, thanks for the information that contributes to nothing at all.
Not liking someone's look is being pretentious?
And here I thought it was based on opinions and tastes, it apparently is all based on being pretentious.
Yeah, that's everything I said. Totally not twisting words like you complained about earlier.
So you're pretentious.
Not liking someone's look is being pretentious?

Not liking someones look isn't what is pretentious. It's the fact that he wouldn't approach or start a conversation or would feel uncomfortable around them in any means.

Well looking after yourself again isn't mututal to your looks. Sure you may have a few spots if you eat a lot of greasy food. Still. Clothes aren't a valid judgement. It's almost as bad as a judgement based on someones body mods.
So basing your judgements and implicating that a certain "People" whom get tattoos and piercings are not to his liking or standards isn't some form of judging? He doesn't know the damn "People" in question and as such purely tells us he finds it unpure. I don't understand how first page people agree with me, but second page comes and it's dumbs. Right....
... Why is everyone making a huge deal out of this?
Oh no, he doesn't likes piercings and tattoos! Boo hoo, its called different tastes and opinions.
... Why is everyone making a huge deal out of this?

Again. Taste and opinions are well and valid. BUT to entirely base such massive judgements and let that affect the way you think and act towards certain people. Is not. That is why it's a big deal.

That's not the problem, learn to read.
It's the unlikelyness that he would approach them.

Massive? It's anything but massive.
Not liking someone's look is being pretentious?

its really obvious from how the ones arguing against it write that it extends past personal taste and into the ~judgement zone~ and that is pretentious and that is bigoted. like not approaching someone for wearing a v-neck, i'd laugh if i didn't feel mortified by the shallowness. that kind of behavior can't be rationalized as taste.
i really cant believe this discussion has gone on as long as it has.
Massive? It's anything but massive.
So entirely basing judgements and your attitude towards people and totally avoid or not trying to be social with someone over something as trivial as a tattoo isn't a Massive judgement when it determines your entire demeanour towards someone or group of people?
That's not the problem, learn to read.
It's the unlikelyness that he would approach them.
We have nothing in common, why would I? You have a style that I am not a fan of, so our interests based on first impression clash. I have no reason to approach you unless you exhibit some other thing that I have in common. It's like I don't approach goths or emos when they were a thing. I had nothing in common.

So you're basing their interests off tattoos?
It's worse than I thought.
Yeah, that's everything I said. Totally not twisting words like you complained about earlier.
You said "So you're pretentious."
I wrote an essay compared to what you said. Oh the twisting!
So you're basing their interests off tattoos?

Style man, style. Not interests. I am not a fan of how you express yourself.

Uhhh... you said interests.
Style man, style. Not interests. I am not a fan of how you express yourself.
He's probably a swell guy to talk to. Would you? Or does his t-shirt put you off?
Uhhh... you said interests.
Poor wording, english is my 3rd language. I do not mean interests as in your taste in movies or music but the way you express them.
You're not allowed to have a personal preferences without being called a bigot.
It's not because of your personal preference, which is totally fine, it's because you have this harsh judgment of others over something entirely inconsequential to yourself. What they've done with their body has little to no bearing on their character, I don't see why you think it would.

No. Just because I dislike MLP. I still would have a conversation with them. Aslong as he doesn't try to shove his interests down my throat. I don't do it with Tattoo's and Piercings. Unless my friends share the same interest in them as I do.

Then I apologize as that was just a "Lost in Translation" sort of misunderstanding.

So you're gonna be with someone who you can't stand to look at just because they are nice people?
I mean, I wouldn't be near someone who had a stretcher on his/her chin, that stuff gives me nausea, just like I'm sure they wouldn't be with some regular guy like me either.
It's called "the existance of different groups of people".

"Hey, do you watch MLP?"
"No."
And then we talk about something else, eh
"Hey, do you watch MLP?"

That's him talking to you. Would you go up to and talk to him?
[t]http://default-mightyfine.netdna-ssl.com/495-1637-large_zoom/brony.jpg[/t]

Huge difference between a specific band/fandom shirt and the entire medium of tattoos.
the phrase "all people who wear t-shirts are plebs" is more alike to what you guys have been posting than "anyone who wears a brony shirt is probably a dork"
There are plenty of reasons why people get tattoos, ranging from sentiment to whimsy- but only one reason to wear a MLP shirt
So you're gonna be with someone who you can't stand to look at just because they are nice people?

So...because a person is different or prefers an extreme body mod, that suddenly makes them unviable to converse with? That's just stupid.
Sure different groups exist. The fact that they don't intertwine and mingle amongst each other more bothers me.
Also. I don't find it disgusting to look at. People are different and prefer different things. I fail to see why that would disgust me or make me not want to talk to them.
