Goddammit, I already have a PC, Wii, 360, and PS3. Now you are telling me I need to buy my own army too?
Fucking army exclusives.

Army > PC
Its not a mod, or even a game, its a simulator. Much like how VBS2 is a simulator. And if its ever released to public, it will cost few thousand dollars to get it. Like VBS2.
BTW, so what will happen to VBS2 now?
I know I replied to your post earlier but I just noticed something. VBS2 is actually only around 500 USD for the "personal edition". Still out of the reach of just about everyone but it does seem pretty cheap for a military grade simulator, when I first heard BI were releasing a personal edition I was expecting the price to be many thousands, I was quite surprised when I saw it was only a few hundred.

Prolly because its pretty fucking old, and it still uses the shitty Arma 1 engine.
I enjoyed the Americas army games so who know

Except the AA games aren't simulators in any sense. They are designed from the ground up as recruiting tools.
i hope to god this gets a public release on the PC.
id buy the shit out of it.

CryEngine 3 is so much nicer than they made it look on Crysis 2.
Why would they use this engine? I don't get it. I think they should be using the Call of Duty: Black Ops engine. Call of Duty: Black Ops is one of the most realistic and best games in the first-person shooter genre of this century. It already has many of the guns built in that real life soldiers will be using on the field, like the MP5K, Steyr AUG, FAMAS, and AK47. It includes all the necessary tactical attachments that the soldiers would need to be trained to use, like the Grenade Launcher, and shotgun. It also will help soldiers learn CQC, close quarters combat, with the use of the tactical knife attachment. I hope that the U.S. government sees this post and changes their decision to use this inferior engine.

That joke sucked.
That joke sucked.
Dear Artyom,
I was not attempting to be humorous. I can tell that the engine that powers Call of Duty: Black Ops is a more advanced engine, with better weapons built in. Crysis has unrealistic weapons that no one will actually use in the U.S. Army. I respect your opinion, but please explain why you disagree, and feel that Call of Duty: Black Ops engine isn't suited for this project.
God Bless.

I do not understand why you are being so hateful towards me because of my love for the Call of Duty franchise. I think we got off on the wrong foot. Please PM me your gamertag and we can become friends during a round of Black Ops.

I hope you realize that weapons are something added into a game, not an engine, right? Also, don't sign your posts, it's awfully pretentious.
You must be a professional grade troll since you're using Chrome :v:

Dear dragon1972,
I am sorry for signing my post, I did not know that I came off as pretentious by doing so. I know that weapons are added to the game, not the engine. But since Call of Duty: Black Ops already contains the assets for these weapons, it will save development time and costs. As this is using taxpayer money (which I feel taxes are way too high, but I don't want to derail the thread by talking of taxes,) I feel that this should be as cost-efficient as possible.
Thank you for your time,
J E
God Bless
P.S. I am sorry for signing my post before, I will remember not to do it again.

Unfortunately, BOps is not moddable or has not shown the ability to be as easily manipulated as the CryEngine has. Everyone keep saying which one is better with assets and such but we're talking about starting a game from scratch and as such the most easily molded engine is the best. That's why Source and Unreal have survived as long as they have.
Blops mods to train military.
Edit: Also once the gov says the word "cash" to the call of duty devs they will take their engine down piece by piece and reconstruct it again to match their needs.

Because Crytek wanted Crysis 2 to run on most computers.

Just like Half Life 2 :v:
And every god damn Source game since.
I'd play it.
Because Crytek wanted Crysis 2 to look and run like shit
What happened to VBS2? I thought there was a whole kit dedicated to U.S. Army assets, and as far as I know VBS2 is way more extensible, with more simulator-based features already implemented than CryEngine 2.

Note that that is a 4-part demonstration.

LODES EMONE + Military
= no more money.
I know this is awesome and all, but...Fucking $57M of our tax money for that shit? Are they fucking serious?
I'm pretty sure damn paintball or airsoft is more efficient than that. Not an expert, but a live fire exercise involving paintball or airsoft in a real simulated combat zone is more efficient than this.

Probably cost more.

Crysis 2 > Black Ops
So your argument is invalid.
God Bless :v:
Lockheed Martin also has a license for CryEngine 3
Haha, up yours Unreal engine.
[editline]28th May 2011[/editline]
was checking, and apparently the Dubai police has a licence too :o
Dohohoho sucks to be bohemia interactive
They were going to use Bohemia Interactive's engine, but their supercomputers couldn't get it to run with more than 15 fps.
Prolly because its pretty fucking old, and it still uses the shitty Arma 1 engine.
It only uses the ArmA 1 engine for graphics apparently, from what I understand the VBS2 engine is more advanced than the ArmA2 engine.
