• Americans need to try harder to eat fruits, vegetables

I think more Americans need to consider small "backyard Farms" if they can grow one. Mine only took a day to plant and around 15min of upkeep a day and I get fresh produce all summer. Plus we give all the excess to neighbors so it is helping others get their vegetables too. Just now I spent around five minutes picking these, and I will be picking acorn squash this afternoon for dinner
I'm not really a huge veggie fan, but I love bell pepper. It is one of those things you can have in everything. Pizza, salad, wok or on the side of your dish.
They probably would if American fruit and veg wouldn't taste like plastic
Make 'em taste better then. I don't eat plants because I don't like the flavor...or lack thereof, in many cases.

There is a HUGE difference between a tomato from a garden or farmers market and a tomato from an industrial farm as most of them use GMOs that grow faster and larger but taste worse.

Fruit and Vegetables in US supermarkets taste like water mixed with plastic.
Well, 60% of all Americans are overweight...
They don't taste WORSE, they don't taste like anything. Fruit and Vegetables in US supermarkets taste like water mixed with plastic.
That's why I prefer to grow my own or shop at farmers markets.

Often this means cattle are grown or other goods are produced, but produce needs to be shipped in and local options aren't all that great.

I recommend checking out CSA's so you can get fresh produce most of the year based on what is in season. http://www.localharvest.org/csa/

I've actually tried some grown in my own back yard. Literally. They still didn't give me any reason to choose them over, say, bacon. Or a well-cooked burger/steak. I simply don't like the flavor of plants. I prefer the flavor of meat. It has nothing to do with where it's grown and everything to do with the fact that my palette doesn't get along with things that grow out of the ground. I'll eat corn, mashed potatoes(That is, potatoes that are mashed, though I like the instants too), sometimes I'll drink apple and orange juice if it's on hand, and that's about it...and yeah I eat things like bread and tomato sauces, but those aren't veggies. They may be made from them, but they're not veggies anymore.
I eat fruits and vegetables everyday, and that isn't the problem. The problem is fruits and vegetables cost a lot. When I grocery shop I spend $40 dollars easily on apples, oranges, blueberries, etc. Where a lot of other people will just buy a few bags of chips for under $10 and call it good.
Bananas are about a dollar a pound. Spinach is cheap as shit. Problem solved
I eat everything, I'd love to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables if it weren't for the price.
I have lived in the U.S, the UK, and the Republic of Ireland. They all have a disgusting food industry. Hell, the UK is the fattest country in Europe if I do recall. Don't bring up stupid unrelated political melodrama, the UK is also a pretty shit place to live with the whole knacker infestation and ridiculous knife crime.
Yeah, I've noticed a large decline in British elitism on this site. When I first joined, the Brits beat us up and took our lunch money! I think it's the realization that the UK is just another version of America with different accents and in Europe. Otherwise, we are hardly different. Canadian elitism, however...
The time i went to america i had this fancy salad and it tasted like shit sorry america but you don't have good salad recipes
So that's why Pizza is considered a vegetable by Congress.

Americans need to try harder to eat fruit? How about you start cutting the price on the product then. The price on fruit has always been the main factor in my intake of it, if it didn't cost so damn much I would eat fruit more than anything else. One of the primary reasons I wish I was obscenely rich; could eat fruit all day every day and not give a care about the price. As for vegetables, they aren't all that expensive around my parts, the main cost is the time to prepare them properly. After a long day the last thing I want to do is spend another half hour making food. I'd suspect for many people that is also the reason they eat less "healthy" food often.

Eat moderately. Don't eat fast food everyday. Eat only when you are hungry and snacks should be reserved when you are bored.
Thank dao I was born with a love for apples and oranges. Bananas are fine, but I can only eat one if it's perfectly ripe. Not too old, not too young. Pomegranates are fuckin great but I can't find any in my area. Carrots rock, and so does celery (try putting peanut butter on it. It's fuckin great). But fuck tomatos, they're a red ball of water and tastelessness.
I eat fruit every god damn day.
I usually have a V8 juice in the morning, then cider sometime in the day. Plus I usually eat a home made meal as opposed to eating out. Veggies usually end up in there somewhere in the week.
I don't have the time to shovel fruits down my mouth. At 2:00 I have to shovel a Big mac down, at 2:01 I have to finish my fries, at 2:02 I have to gulp down my drink, and from 2:03 I have to play TF2 and do abso-fucking-lutely nothing in SFM! Then I have to go to sleep! fuck that shit.
But fuck tomatos, they're a red ball of water and tastelessness.
You have to eat them with salt.
