I think that while she is a bit too sentimental over the crocodile, I would be pissed if my boyfriend said "choose me or your cat" who I've had for years (although my boyfriend is allergic so I understand in his case). Although once again I do think that spending too much time with a pet over your partner is also bad, and asking her to get rid of the croc was probably a last resort...so I can see both sides really.
