Welcome to the 20th century. :v:
You misquoted me there. I am well aware of that most mathematical calculations today are done by computers, but I was talking about artifical beings that can think, invent and research by themselves.
Somehow, I don't think any alien we'd encounter would be carbon based. Different planets mean different courses of evolution. Of course, basic laws of biology will still apply, bipedalism and thumbs being likely and still present, but beyond that? I think Mass Effect and Farscape has the most accurate depiction of what an alien would look like. Halo's not too far off either.
Everone in ME speaks english though :v:
Universal Translators kid.
Even Tali mentions universal translators in Ilios.
Unlikely. [editline]07:20PM[/editline]
Everone in ME speaks english though :v:
Well it would be kind of gay if they spoke Turkish.
Generally when people say "aliens", they're referring to intelligent life-forms. Though I do wonder how an energetic life-form would work. It probably wouldn't be carbon based...
The Drej from Titan AE.
Sometimes I sit back and wonder how people can draw comfort from humanity being alone in the universe, if we ARE alone (Which it's Infinitesimal that we are) that would be FAR more scary than if we lived in a universe packed full of life.
*Meat Story*
That was very impressive, shower of artistic.
God, I hope we're not alone in the galaxy. There needs to be someone else out there figuring shit out!
They're made out of meat story
I remember that in 6th grade, it was a test in LA.
? is this an alien?
Necrons building.
Aliens (from outer space) are unimaginable.
I don't like the idea of augmentations and cyborg-ness and shit.
I don't like the idea of augmentations and cyborg-ness and shit.
Why not? What's so bad about super intelligence, strenght, speed e.t.c, along with a severely prolonged lifetime, or even possibly immortality.

Well if some race would create learning, adapting and self aware A.I. this could be true.
Well if some race would create learning, adapting and self aware A.I. this could be true.
*coughHumansdiditcough* Ok, it's not yet self aware, as far as we know, but still, close.
Why not? What's so bad about super intelligence, strenght, speed e.t.c, along with a severely prolonged lifetime, or even possibly immortality.
Because we will cease to be the Homo Sapiens we are.
Allow me to paraphrase a passage from Arthur C. Clarke's book The garden of Rama. If anyone has the book at hand, could you correct, because it is a bitch to find particular quotes on the internet. My point is this, don't be so fast to disregard things as impossible, as, frankly, you probably have no idea.
Go learn the basic universal laws of physics before you say a fucking thing about me having no idea what I'm talking about. How does a cloud of energy survive? How does energy collect itself together without cannibalising itself to gain energy? It would be like a guy in a fucking coma, it would exist indefinitely but it wouldn't be able to think without it dying, it wouldn't be able to move to find any energy in the vacuum of space, and most importantly. *drum roll* The total entropy of any isolated thermodynamic system always increases over time, approaching a maximum value or we can say, "In an isolated system, the entropy never decreases". Another way to phrase this: Heat cannot spontaneously flow from a colder location to a hotter area - work is required to achieve this. In other words, in a closed system, that cloud of energy will dissipate. There will never be aliens that are clouds of cunting energy. I've done this before with you, I beat you then, and I'll beat you now, and if you fancy carrying on I'll prove you wrong again over and over. [editline]08:55PM[/editline]
I advise bravehat to watch this video Surely that must show that all matter has some form of consciousness? How else can it be explained? And seeing as energy is a state of matter and the cyclic nature of both, then are you 100% sure energy could not also do this? The fact is we know quite literally nothing of the quantum world, and it's odd actions, we have no logical way of understanding it apart from stating what it does. So have an open mind.
Oh hey new age bullshit! I was wondering when you would show up. Piss off and buy a healing crystal it's the only thing that can save you from your own stupidity, seriously you're so stupid you must have fell UP the stairs at some point in your life.
