A++ post would read again.
then why did you rate it dumb? misclick I guess
I remember watching a documentary on this. It said that the ashes would spread around the world, and mess up the entire ecosystem. Oh and the sun would be kinda blocked, so a long winter/ice age.
Would it be possible to drill down into the chamber and slowly drain out some of the gasses or even some of the magma?
Well, i don't think that might work well, since the magma is held at high pressure underground. Oh and scientists say that in the timeline of it exploding, we are a few thousand years overdue.
Blast radius: Arizona's safe..ish.
Blast radius: Arizona's safe..ish.
More like New England is safe-ish. Arizona would be more dead-ish.
More like New England is safe-ish. Arizona would be more dead-ish.
Nah. We'd get some ash but southern AZ would be ok.
Patrolling Yellowstone almost makes you wish for a volcanic winter.
This isn't just going to affect America, you realize. It'll be a GLOBAL problem. We're talking a volcanic winter worldwide. Plants will die. Animals will die. Humans will die. If we're smart, we'll get hydroponics domes built if this thing shows the slightest chance of blowing. Right.
Nah. We'd get some ash but southern AZ would be ok.
yeah i guess you'd be "ok" as in "the ash doesn't reach me", but it's still going to have a massive impact on you.
,,,
That's pretty scary, I remember watching a documentary on the effects of what it'll do if it explodes. Good thing I live in New Jersey.
That's pretty scary, I remember watching a documentary on the effects of what it'll do if it explodes. Good thing I live in New Jersey.
yeah, because the only way this will affect you is if you are touched by ash
Blast radius: [img_thumb]http://www.survivalistssite.com/~canuck/images/yellowstone/diag_ashfall_sm.jpg[/img_thumb] Arizona's safe..ish.
There will still be ash fallout, leading to crop shortages and soon the whole country could be up in deep shit. Gods that was a good movie.
Blast radius: [img_thumb]http://www.survivalistssite.com/~canuck/images/yellowstone/diag_ashfall_sm.jpg[/img_thumb] Arizona's safe..ish.
fuck there goes me and north dakota
I live in England, I'll be ok.
Fuck your guys' shit; I'll be gone the second this thing blows, so I don't have to worry. Also, since the previous blasts have been semi-regular, scientists concluded this one's 20,000 years late. It really could go at any time.
yeah i guess you'd be "ok" as in "the ash doesn't reach me", but it's still going to have a massive impact on you.
The whole world would be pretty fucked if this happened...
The whole world would be pretty fucked if this happened...
all the more reason for me to not have a child with all the shit going on in the world it seems almost selfish for me to subject a child to it
umad, humans?
HA! Both my current place (vancouver), my parents place (kamloops), AND the West Edmonton Mall (because that palce is win) are all just out of range. Sure there would be ash fall but seeing how that's all mostly on the wast side, it won't see too much as the jet stream will blow it all east and fuck everyone else over. Then us Pacific coast folk get to laugh at you all until "the big one" hits. On a realted note, this is old, old news. People have been going on about this for the past few years. It wasn't even on the give-a-fuck-o-meter until that movie came out.
We must make a sacrifice to the volcano god. Justin Bieber should make a suitable offer.
We want to prevent an eruption not fucking cause one
Sweet, Oklahoma is just out of the blast radius. Instead of dying a quick and painless death, we get to suffer.
This is the kind of thing that would probably collapse the American nation. You can only handle so much catastrophe without it tearing away the seams.
Nah. We'd get some ash but southern AZ would be ok.
All of Arizona's farmland would be ruined by the ash. Oh wait...
ok now i don't care much, wisconsin is safe
This is the kind of thing that would probably collapse the American nation. You can only handle so much catastrophe without it tearing away the seams.
People on the opposite end of the globe would be experiencing a 24/7 ash induced nighttime too.
let's bomb it, that solves literally everything
A mountain full of lava that could erupt, continuing to display behaviour that suggests that it could erupt? STOP THE PRESS.
[img_thumb]http://www.lampholderpub.com/YellowstoneFalloutAshBed.gif[/img_thumb] ok now i don't care much, wisconsin is safe
the great purge of the worst states bring it on supervolcano
