Not everybody is a fan of this weird movement.
And they need to get over it. Not everybody was a fan of the Civil Rights Movement either.
Man, seems to be serious business, and you always call them "he/she" based on who they think they are?
It is definitely serious business and you should try to treat it as such. Saying "who they THINK they are" implies that they have no agency over their identity, which is pretty fucked up. Like, do you think you're a guy (yes, I'm assuming you're a guy because it's reasonable to do so in this specific situation, don't turn this against me) or do you know you're a guy? But yes, refer to anyone with their preferred pronouns whenever possible, which is most of the time.
Not everybody is a fan of this weird movement.
People said the same exact thing about the gay rights movement over 60 years ago.
Not everybody is a fan of this weird movement.
I'm sorry but it's been shown repeatedly that it's not something that people choose, it's not something that people can do away with, and repressing it only leads to self-harm, suicide, even murdered trans folk. The best that can be done is allow it to happen.
being denied gender treatment is one of the worst pains a person can suffer, I can understand from experience this is denying basic human rights
Preaching tolerance and then being extremely ignorant towards people that want nothing to do with this seems a bit biased in my opinion. As long as they aren't intentionally hurting people they can have biased/negative opinions towards the subject as much as they want or not?

Your head?

You're being corrected for an opinion that's wrong(factually speaking in regards to biology and gender) and one that's highly insensitive. No one is censoring you. Why do you want to have nothing to do with a movement that simply values how people think of themselves? People don't just wake up one day and go "I'm a woman now". It's not like that and that's how you're thinking about it so, yeah, you're going to be corrected for such an opinion that lacks value.

The only reason I can imagine why you would want to just dismiss transgenderism is that you're sincerely of the belief these people have no idea who they are and you know better than they do. I can't imagine a more condescending opinion.
Ok, where are this people coming from? Your head?
Mabye I exaggarated but what I'm trying to say is that the general consensus for people that either want nothing to do with this movement or are simply against it and I'm not talking Westboro crazy against it are instantly shunned from these kind of discussions. Maybe because they have nothing meaningful to contribute anyway. How would you discuss a subject you have no idea what it is about?
damnit automerge

How would you discuss a subject you have no idea what it is about?
Well, what you've done is blunder in, say things as if you understand them and ignore us whenever anyone tries to correct you. If you don't have a sincere interest in the subject and you just want to tell everyone here that you know better about these peoples gender, lives, and mental states than they do, then go for it, but no one gives a rats ass what you think in that situation nor should they. If you want to actually know, how about you just listen to what people are saying rather than handwaving it away as if you actually know.

More than that, though, I don't want people to be able to avoid discussions about it, or ignore it in any way. It's a big issue.

As long as they aren't intentionally hurting people they can have biased/negative opinions towards the subject as much as they want or not?
no one is saying they can't have/express their opinions, however that's not to say they won't be criticised for having a bigoted one.

As long as they aren't intentionally hurting people they can have biased/negative opinions towards the subject as much as they want or not?
Tolerance of intolerance results in intolerance. Intolerance of intolerance results in tolerance. Seriously, how is "no, why the fuck would you call a person an 'it'" being "extremely ignorant"?

I can't imagine a more condescending opinion.
My reasons for hating this movement wouldn't make this discussion any easier because they are just as bigoted :v: Anyway joining this discussion was a bad idea, I have no idea why you guys support this with all your heart and probably never will. Keep doing what you are doing!

I sincerely hope if you have kids you have a kid who is transgendered so you can finally understand it.
I don't think Combine knows what a bigot is.
So you KNOW you're a bigot, but you're fine with that? How can you not care that you know you're a bigot? I sincerely hope if you have kids you have a kid who is transgendered so you can finally understand it.
eh maybe not best for the kid brah

More like why YOU guys are so fascinated by this but my attitude and the like is probably exactly why this topic is boring to me.
I have no alternatives because I'm not interested in this. More like why YOU guys are so fascinated by this but my attitude and the like is probably exactly why this topic is boring to me.
The problem is that you don't recognize why you're a bigot when people tell you so.
Yeah, of course they are. That's what happens when you're a bigot. You wouldn't expect to be welcomed in a discussion about gays when you're homophobic, or talking about blacks when you're racist, would you?
I have no alternatives because I'm not interested in this. More like why YOU guys are so fascinated by this but my attitude and the like is probably exactly why this topic is boring to me.
Christ this isn't getting anywhere can the thread stop being about The Combine if he's admittedly a bigot who criticizes us yet provides no better alternative?
I have no alternatives because I'm not interested in this. More like why YOU guys are so fascinated by this but my attitude and the like is probably exactly why this topic is boring to me.
Because we have general sympathy and empathy with people who are in a position that is highly painful? I can tell you think transgenderism is just waking up one day and being the opposite sex in your head. No, it doesn't work like that. You generally know from a very young age. And you generally spend your whole life feeling like your body and mentality aren't fit for how people see you and every interaction is a painful reminder that hey, you're not who you should be. It's equivalent to depression. We can see in the brain of the people who go through this in their lives that they actually ARE that gender mentally speaking. If you're ignorant of it, you should learn rather than carry on being a bigot.
If you're "not interested" in transgender stuff, you should really ask yourself why. Like, this isn't a show or a video game, it's real life issues and activism that so many people are involved in.
eh maybe not best for the kid brah
you're right on that but I generally hope human decency picks up when a person's a father
