You're acting like we're obligated to buy the game. Customers control what they want in a product, how so? By not buying it if they don't like it.
Hm, how am I acting that you guys are obliged to buy the game? For gods sake did you even read my post?
Let me break it down for you.
I didn't really like it when I played the alpha, but if you think it's going to change my decision to buy the game or not then you're wrong.
I didn't really like it. But you'll tolerate it.
But it won't change my decision to buy the game, as I find the browser to be a minor annoyance. See? It won't change mine decision to get the game. It might change yours, but I haven't said anything about that.
I've only read the first page, and it saddens me how all of you or so thickheaded. EA and DICE have made so much to please the PC gamers, and what do they get in return?
Because you guys are jumping the bandwagon and because if you're being rational enough, you'd realize that it would be stupid to assume that they are out to destroy for the PC gamers on purpose. (sigh why am i even writing this)
Tons and tons of kids screaming at them. Haha, there's really no difference between PC gamers and console gamers.
Yes, tons and tons of kids/people/teens/forum users screaming at them. The typical stereotype of a console gamer seems to be such a person. I found that funny.
Why do you try to make my opinion less reasonable than yours, by accusing me of stupid things? I like to be reasonable when I write things instead of spouting out; let me quote some stuff on the first page.
EA :v:
What the fuck are you doing?

What the fuck. This is one of the biggest dick moves ever in modern video game history.

Modern Warfare 3 wins. Great Job EA. First they take it off steam, hold it hostage on a EA store that only distributes games they make, force us to use the EA store application if we want to buy their games digitally, and now we get stuck with a shitty server browser.

Hey, EA, why don't you rip off a useful feature from steam and add it to origin. Like, oh I don't know, THE ABILITY TO HAVE THE SAME FUCKING SERVER BROWSER BOTH IN AND OUT OF GAME.

Great job EA, you've managed to make me dislike BF3 just as much as I dislike the CoD series before you've even released it. That takes real skill.
I find those posts to be stupid, I don't think they are being reasonable and are only seeing it from one angle. And how do I try to point it out? Yes, by making my own post, AFTER reading them.
Also, why aren't you questioning those posts? They seem to make me feel bad for wanting this game.
Is it just because you agree with what they are writing? Fine!
I'm not going to bother you with that. (except writing this post to defend my previous post)
Most people who complain about battlelog seem to act like no games should EVER try to introduce ANYTHING new because it will be never be good, because "WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU CHANGING SOMETHING THAT'S ALREADY GOOD WHAT THE FUCK DON'T IMPROVE ANYTHING".
Battlelog Question: Can you adjust the mouse sensitivity ingame or do you have to get out of the game and adjust it?
Battlelog Question: Can you adjust the mouse sensitivity ingame or do you have to get out of the game and adjust it?
There's an options menu in-game.
Alright that solves about 50% of my issues I've had with Battlelog.... Now I'm just waiting to see if the site will overload from mass-player intake(Ie. Open Beta).
Alpha had a large number of players already and it never lagged for me.
Alpha had a large number of players already and it never lagged for me.
You're kidding right, alpha will never measure up to the volume of players that beta/the real thing will get.
You're kidding right, alpha will never measure up to the volume of players that beta/the real thing will get.
I bet they ran the alpha on only 1 or 2 battlelog server to see how much 1 server could take, in the beta they will probably try it on all.
You're kidding right, alpha will never measure up to the volume of players that beta/the real thing will get.
iirc they simulated loads which represented tons of people and it held up alright
Recently learnt: If there are more than three flaws (major or minor of extremely trivial) it's a bad game, a bad company and beyond repair.
Come on people, stop being so nitpicky. You're not punishing ANYONE (not even EA) if you're not going to buy it.

They stresstested the servers during a short period.
I played in the alpha, and I can vouch for battlelog. I would still prefer an in-game server browser and menu (personal preference, no real reason why, I just like the look of them), but from my time using battlelog, it is much faster than anything else I have used.
Probably already been said, if we ran this game through steam, would we be able to have battlelog open in the Steam Overlay and do it that way?
You wouldn't need to, just close the game and load up another server from the browser. Only takes around 10-20 seconds.
Now if you wanted to do it that way anyways, I am not sure if it would work.
Also in case you didn't know, Origin has a in-game overlay as well.

Considering how BF3 is launched and how it behaves when changing servers, I don't think running it through Steam is possible.

On which none of my friends can or likely will be found judging by the response I've gotten from asking them about Origin. "Origin has an in-game overlay as well" won't mean anything to me until the people I enjoy keeping in touch with start using it on a regular basis. If any one of them thinks the same way, it's unlikely that Origin is going to be a reliable way for me to play BF3 and communicate with friends at the same time.
I don't get why people are complaining so much. There is still a server browser, it just works differently to how we are used to. I think it is good that they are trying something new, even if it doesn't catch on, if no one trys to innovate then gaming will just get stuck in a rut.

Well origin will never get a large player base until people start using it, and that will take time. It sucks but that's just how it is. Luckily I only have a few friends that I know IRL that use steam on a regular basis, and they will probably be getting BF3 as well.
I don't get why this is such a big deal anyway.
[editline]20th August 2011[/editline]
I was in the alpha and using a browser to choose servers isn't even that bad.
Hey, does battlefield 3 have punkbuster?

So far I've seen the "We can atleast have options."
This one actually has some legitimate arguments.
And then the normal, "Thats not how PC gaming works, screw EA"
This one does not.

Steam has an out of game server browser?
This is new to me.

3 Strikes. I'm not buying this now.
Been waiting years for BF3 but the amount of absurd gimmicks and quirks this game is going to have and force on me if I got it would make it seem like a fucking hassle just to own the game in the first place.
Been watching this thing since they announced it and I've been getting seriously irritated by the people who act like this is the worst thing ever.
As a small few of you have put it, it seems like the devs were coming up with this system and thought "This is great, a new, easy, innovative way of joining servers, people are going to love this", then they announce it, and because it slightly differs from the way things are currently, sites like RPS pretend to be all confused and condescending towards the idea and the hordes of lowly cynical fucks all just surf the wave of excuses for hating anything out of the ordinary.
When I read about it I thought it was going to suck but then I actually bothered to form my own opinion on it instead of dickriding the opinions of a news article or the OP (something a very large proportion of you seem incapable of doing) and I realised that there is absolutely nothing wrong with this and it seems like a really smooth and innovative system which I look forward to playing with.
I don't understand this because when shit like COD comes out with the same shit every year you all fucking complain and whine and joke at the developers, and shit like that happens and DICE announces something new and interesting and you all fucking complain and whine and joke at the developers. It's a massive circlejerk of indecisive fucks who can't look at a subject seriously without being swayed by the opinion of the first few posts or some elitist dicks on a games website who act like motherfucking Fox News and bend the truth to look for any possible excuse to hate on something that doesn't fit the status quo.
To torture a phrase, stay classy, Facepunch.

Fact: Starting up Origin and then launching BF3 takes at most 1 minute.
What's the problem here?
You know what game didn't have an in-game server browser?
Delta Force
In 1998
I always like new ideas from Companies.
I just hate it when they don't' execute it properly.
So, Please don't screw up.

Good riddance
I'm hoping they don't screw this up but having to start up a game from browser annoys me, it really only works for that Ace of Spades game and that's free so it doesn't actually piss me off - lazy bastards at least I hope you give everyone a few $$$ off when it's released because of this.
I'm sorry but they didn't put this in just to piss people off. From my time with the alpha I found that battlelog was much faster than any other form of server browser I had used before. If I wanted to switch servers, I could just close the client, and load up another server within 20 seconds.
I played in Alpha. Battlelog was cool and all, but I don't want Battlefield to be like goddamn Facebook. Don't shove social networking in my face. I want to play Battlefield, not go on Facebook.
It would be great to have Battlelog ingame however, rather than out of game.
