darn it guys, we were going for so long here without turning into a mess of an argument about religion, bring it to the debate section.
Garry took away the debate section.

i never saw more than one person there lol, good riddance
Japan as a whole just seems to want to keep to itself
they don't want any shit from any one, they just want to do their own damn thing and keep to their own business.
like why even screw with them?
Doesn't look like we can do anything about this situation. We won't be paying the ransom.

well...
where are we supposed to have mature(ish) arguments now? Its impossible to discuss these issues in the other sections without causing a flamewar...
anyways, back on topic:
I am curious to see what would happen if ISIS would attack North Korea. That would be a really bizarre situation.

Well you could just debate in the thread but members have a problem with starting or ending their arguments with "you fucking idiot" to prove their point so it just ends with people getting banned and the thread closed
Welp, they're as good as dead now:
"The international community will not give in to terrorism and we have to make sure that we work together."
Earlier, the Japanese government said it will not give in to "terrorism" after a video emerged of the hostage situation.
"Our country's stance -- contributing to the fight against terrorism without giving in -- remains unchanged," chief government spokesman Yoshihide Suga told a news conference in Tokyo.

It takes a special kind of idiot to fuck around with the JSDF.
Just imagine going out to a strafing run from this thing.

Have to say, that's actually a pretty good anime likeness of that pilot. And that's the first and probably last time I'll ever have said that.
Doesn't ISIS usually not ask for ransoms? Every video is just them executing hostages or the hostages reading propaganda. They never are asking for ransoms.
japan isnt taking this lightly https://twitter.com/hashtag/ISIS%E3%82%AF%E3%82%BD%E3%82%B3%E3%83%A9%E3%82%B0%E3%83%A9%E3%83%B3%E3%83%97%E3%83%AA?src=hash
I love how the person the most offended isn't Japanese.
They've actually been building up their military quite a bit in recent years and have been working to increase their power projection. And I'm sure the US would be more than happy to augment any pieces they may be missing such as aircraft carriers.
I work with both JGSDF and JMSDF on a regular basis, I'm aware of this. But you don't seem to understand that that has nothing to do with the present. The US isn't going to give them anything, they might buy from US contractors, but we're vastly down sizing the military and military programs in general we're not going to 'give' them anything. They ARE however designing their own domestic amphib's which is a step to domestic carriers. The Hyuga class I mentioned is being over taken by an even larger ship the Izumi Which is absolutely fucking HUGE, in fact it's only 84 m short of being as big as a Nimitz super carrier. It's also capable of launching F-35's, V-22's and other aircraft as well.
In a couple decades I have no doubt they will have substantial force projection, however, that has nothing to do with what they have now. There is no big Japanese strike force heading out to fuck up ISIS, JSFG isn't sending a huge task force to rescue them.
The sad reality is, these men will most likely be killed, and aside from publicly condemning the beheading, and possibly joining the US in their air campaign. Nothing else will becoming of this. It's unfortunate, even US SOCOM has trouble operating inside ISIS territory. In order to build a strong, far reaching military force that SnakeHead graciously mentioned, the public is really going to have to rally behind the idea of a bigger, more capable military. WWII and the military in general is still an extremely taboo and looked down upon subject.
It will however be interesting to see how their deaths alter and possibly galvanize the public's view on the military in general.
No one likes ISIS.
They're just a group where sociopaths hang out and kill people that look at them funny or have a different belief than them.
This is why they should be wiped from earth. Wiped out forever.
I am surprised how Chechenland 2 happened yet
Also, the deadline apparently has passed.
(CNN)The fate of two Japanese men whom ISIS kidnapped and threatened to execute was unknown Friday as the 72-hour deadline that the militant group set apparently came and went.
On Tuesday, ISIS released a video threatening to kill the two men -- Kenji Goto and Haruna Yukawa -- unless Japan paid the group $200 million within 72 hours.
Based on the time frame, the Japanese government estimated that the ultimatum expired at 2:50 p.m. Friday, Tokyo time (12:50 a.m. ET Friday), and scrambled to secure the men's release.
Hours before the estimated deadline, an ISIS spokesman told Japanese broadcaster NHK that the group would release a statement "soon" about the hostages. That statement didn't come.
Oh god dammit.
Quick Japan, get some IP sniffers, find where these fuckers are uploading these videos from.

That's the greatest thing I've ever seen
Why can't we have that
I think Japan already stated their feelings. ISIS, which of these 9 anime girls...
And good on Japan. Give them no legitimate attention, yeah a few people will die, but in the grand scheme of things, so many more will survive.
