they have an "acting" president there's nothing "illegitimate" about him

Current acting President is the current Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament Oleksandr Turchynov after the Ukrainian Parliament ousted Viktor Yanukovych from this office on 21 February 2014.[1] It is unclear if the removal of Yanukovych was legal because Yanukovych had not signed the bills that would restore the Constitution as it was between 2004 and 2010.[2] The constitutional guidelines provide for a review of the case by Ukraine's Constitutional Court and a three-fourths majority vote by parliament (338 MPs).[2] The decisions to remove Yanukovych was supported by 328 MPs.[3] Yanukovych still claims to be "the legitimate head of the Ukrainian state elected in a free vote by Ukrainian citizens".[4]
yeah those "self-defence forces" have some serious firepower, RPGs, etc.
Russia occupies the eastern Ukraine by Ukrainians and Ukrainian army? If we follow this logic, Russia will win the USA by Americans... Lying to your own people as the best way to get a knife in back Beware of Americans who support Russian
Many Americans absolutely despise Russia

I was extremely skeptical to begin with, and this fuels it further: they were coerced. If Russian elements have already been caught in greater Ukraine, I wouldn't put it past the Russians to threaten the families/lives of the soldiers currently active out there. If the family or other relatives are living in one of the contested territories, they can just threaten to find and torture them. Whether they are truly capable of it or not, a soldier amid openly hostile Russian separatists is not going to take that chance. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that the Ukrainian military is pushed into a corner because Russia is breathing down their neck. They either idle passively and watch the country tear itself up, or they do something and face political/social upheaval and maybe a Russian incursion. Putin set up his Xanatos gambit and is just waiting for this virus to run it's course. It's a horrible situation to be put in.
Many Americans absolutely despise Russia
everyone else just do not know where it is
Yeah I wouldn't desert too if I was a conscript stuck in the middle of some hell hole surrounded by ~~~~*self defense forces*~~~~ who want me dead and are totally acting independently of Moscow right
Then why go in a hell hole in a first place? Or why not start shooting, following orders?
I like how in thread about Ukrainian desertion people still say ''Russia Fuck off''. Soo sensational.
It's amazing how Russians invade surrounding countries and then wonder why people don't like them
Both are wrong, those are BMD. Airborne personnel carrier.
Those the BMD-3's, right? If memory serves right most of them have those hydraulics that let them raise the APC(IFV) or lower it.
Then why go in a hell hole in a first place? Or why not start shooting, following orders?
Because life is more important. [editline]16th April 2014[/editline]
It's amazing how Russians invade surrounding countries and then wonder why people don't like them
He can't hear you over the moan's of pleasure he's hearing from Putin.
I'm sure that those angry middle-aged Afghanistan vets sure are elite Russian FSB agents that are obviously able to sieze a large mobile chunk of metal that you obviously can't just button the hatches on and ignore them.
I still don't understand why anybody would want be be part of shithole russia in the first place
I still don't understand why anybody would want be be part of shithole russia in the first place
Russia is not a shithole by any stretch of the imagination
Russian people are nicer than Americans imo Its their government thats the problem.
I legitimately misread Donbass as dumbass and was like, what.
This whole splitting a country in half reminds me of Germany with the GDR and FRG and I wonder if the industry will develop the opposite of the way it did in Germany with the East holding the majority.
NATO is responding with deploying more forces in Eastern Europe
Meanwhile, the military is losing their patience
Thought I'd post this in case some western media gonna call those Russian occupants, no sir, those are the forces many of ya people wish would ''squash those separatist''. There are already more footage also original 11 minute video and reports that atleast three more BTRs with included crew said they join Donbass cause ''they decided to join people, not fight them''. If someone would kindly share those links I would much apreciate since I had to make this thread from mobile, currently away from PC.
Couldn't it even be possible that this video is propaganda conjured up by Russia too? Given all the fake stuff they've tried to pass off so far I don't know what to believe anymore. Russia has the same type of armored vehicles, BMDs, and we already know there has been a buildup of forces along Ukraine's eastern provinces. I can't see what uniforms they are wearing, but they're already flying Russian flags. Maybe Russia is just portraying them as "defectors" as a way of being able to move more troops and vehicles into Ukraine without NATO or the EU catching on?

Even the Ukrainian Ministry admitted it.
there's nothing in it for them the east (and south?) is where the money comes from and where they have the support of the population the west doesn't have the industry or the support of the populace, better to just split the country in half and leave the western part in an economic nightmare
Well, they can join us in a federation named "Nothingland," a prospering consumerist country with no industry that is useless to everyone ever.
Russia is on the rise, and is doing it's best to entice the Ukrainian public to become a satellite nation again
If by on the rise you mean almost on the verge of recession. Russia isn't some economic power house, it's only marginally larger in GDP than Italy and the whole thing rests on fossil fuel and natural gas exports. I think this article really sums up the state of the Russian economy pretty nicely: Flex Muscle Spending Has Left Putin’s Russia in an Economic Freeze Frame
...the possibility of Russia spinning the whole world into recession is really remote. Russia constitutes less than three percent of the world’s economy. If it stops selling oil and natural gas into international markets that could have an impact. But even here, it’s influence is declining. The US surpassed Russia last year as the world’s largest producer of hydrocarbons—oil and natural gas combined—and Europeans are already moving aggressively to diversify their supplies. That may be the ultimate insult: Russia may shrink economically, but the rest of the world will hardly notice.
It's best not to ignore angry armed men.

So the Separatists capture Ukrainian APC's, and their first priority is to do tricks? I guess I can't blame them, I'd do the same if I was given an APC and no rules.
What exactly is happening in Ukraine? Can somebody give me a run down? Last I know of is that there were Spetsnaz and other russian operatives in Ukraine. But what exactly is happening with these separatists?
What exactly is happening in Ukraine? Can somebody give me a run down? Last I know of is that there were Spetsnaz and other russian operatives in Ukraine. But what exactly is happening with these separatists?
A lot of shit. I live in Ukraine and I barely have any idea what's going on Basically, ethnic Russians from Eastern Ukraine have formed their own republic, and now they have minor armed conflicts with the Ukrainian military. That's all I can say for sure for now
What exactly is happening in Ukraine? Can somebody give me a run down? Last I know of is that there were Spetsnaz and other russian operatives in Ukraine. But what exactly is happening with these separatists?
Basically, shortly after the referendum in Crimea, Russian Separatists started appearing in Donetsk where they seized Government buildings (including overthrowing the Police, so there are no police), then this spread to other cities all along the far-Eastern Ukraine, including Slovyansk where the entire city is under control of Separatists. It's rumoured that the Separatists are being armed by Russia and aided by the Spetsnaz, but there's no concrete evidence other than reports of men in Russian uniforms* and men with (modern) Russian weapons, including Anti-Tank Rockets (lets be honest, you don't just find those laying around). Recently the Ukrainian Government made several (very poor) attempts to take back land, in one attempt some police men were killed at a Separatist controlled checkpoint, and in another the Soldiers were surrounded and surrendered, the Separatists captured their APC's and guns. Basically it looks very much like Crimea did in the beginning, gunmen seize Government buildings and roads, mass protesters arrive in support, and there isn't a Pro-Ukrainian in sight, (well, there have been one or two reports of Pro-Ukrainian being beat by Pro-Russian protesters). The only difference is the Government has made some (very poor) attempts to end it this time, the Government is clearly intimidated though and only seems to be sending small groups of police or soldiers in at a time. I'm sure someone could write a better summery, but this is what I got so far. [editline]16th April 2014[/editline] And this happened too recently: *The video also shows a man claiming to be from the Russian Military, giving orders to the newly captured Police.
For a sec I thought the title said "Dumbass Self Defence"
Its not just APCs!
Getting strong Call of Duty vibes from this video.
