When will this shit go out of fashion...
Fuck everything about this
Let me guess, this is going to affect outside of USA as well? I hate how everytime I'm watching a movie I bought and there's a 'OH THE FBI WILL CATCH ME' I'M IN FUCKING SINGAPORE.
The fact that they can close any website is worrying. Or am I misunderstanding and these are only websites in US? I guess many porn sites will be closed too since most of them also stream pirated content. Youtube will be in deep shit too either because of all the pirated content or because of no content when all of it gets removed. I love how the name is to stop online piracy, but offline one is ok. OKay guys, stock up on DVDs and some mail stamps, we're opening snail mail trackers :v: The rules of P2P would be simple, if you receive a cd, you have to copy it and send it to someone else. In a community with no leechers that's a good plan.
They'd just move to domains not hosted in the US. While ISPs might block access to these sites, it'd only be a problem in the US anymore.
Fuck them. Cyberspace is a different place from USA or any other country. It already has it's own rules based on commons sense and mutual respect, that changes from website to website. Breaking a rule will grant you a ban, as being figuratively temporary or definitively exiliated from that little city-state, or website. Bad people goes on the sites for bad people. people found in good sites with malicious intentions are already punished by preventing their access. the. end. Fuck every government, the cyberspace is free. let the digital buyers buy and the pirates pirate. Everyone act by their common sense. and moreover, there are no way they can limit anyone's access to pirating websites. So stop trying.
This is retarded, Know why people pirate things? Because of the absoloute batshit insane prices and taxes on everything.
don't forget the good old DRM! :suicide: [editline]17th November 2011[/editline] that even screw over customers who paid
If this passes, first thing they should do is shutdown 4chan.
Out the door. Right stat now. Seriously. T hat is the most retarded thing i have ever seen. Really, You have absoloutely no idea of what goes on on 4Chan other than "lol annonnymoose!!!11" Well guess what? Anon is called that because it IS anonymous, ANYONE, even someone from FP can claim they are part of anon and set up a DDOS program and attempt to DDOS any website anywhere. /b/ is not some super crack crime den with laser guards and sharkmen patrolling around, with all sorts of evil devious activity, It is a place full of trolls, Random chat, and Porn, It's like the GMF probably is but with more pornography.
Pirates Against Anti-Piracy Laws.
that's right, if you're not doing anything wrong you should have nothing to fear! Life in America would be so much better if it were a Democracy.
They'd just move to domains not hosted in the US. While ISPs might block access to these sites, it'd only be a problem in the US anymore.
But all domains are owned by ICANN which is in US, thus has to obey America's laws.
But all domains are owned by ICANN which is in US, thus has to obey America's laws.
Domains, yes. Servers, no. That's why ThePirateBay still exists. It's located in Holland, where the government does not give two shits about what they're doing.
He's probably referring to the literal mountains of casual piracy that occurs there.
Highly doubtful. 4chan's piracy levels are astoundingly low compared to places on the Deepweb and things such as 7chan(Yes, there is such a thing) or even TPB itself.

Deepweb is mainly about CP
Removing videos with copyrighted music in the background makes as much sense as them not wanting songs played on the goddamn radio, which also gives us music for "free". Am I on the right track here?

Am I on the right track here?
And MTV and stuff like that, Since you could just create your own TV free of cost(With some difficulty). Paying no money to anyone. All in all it's just a brick in the wall.
Doesn't congress have more important things to do/deal with?
For what it's worth, I did my part in protesting SOPA. http://opensteamworks.org/ More websites should take part.
I would agree, but that popup really pisses me off.
Doesn't congress have more important things to do/deal with?
So many more important things, but they're deemed not as important because there's no lobbying money behind them. Why do you think fossil fuels, global warming in general, war, famine, pretty much everything that plagues us as a species is still a huge problem? Because there's no money in fixing those things. Hell the only reason disease isn't on that list is because it's so profitable to make medicine.
The Deepweb is way to big to generalise it as "mainly about CP".
What kind of deepweb are we talking about? TORnet? If so, it's so slow I dunno how you could use it for piracy.
I'm still anticipating the final breakdown of the United States into a collection of squabbling self-ruled States, like Germany before Barbarossa.
I've chosen this subject for a persuasive essay assignment for my composition course, and I'll definitely be sending that essay along to the representatives. This is wrong on so many different levels.
I'm still anticipating the final breakdown of the United States into a collection of squabbling self-ruled States, like Germany before Barbarossa.
That will not do any good for the territories. Especially the less educated ones.
That will not do any good for the territories. Especially the less educated ones.
It's better than what we have now. The U.S. government has strayed from it's original purpose, like it or not. The only cure for the U.S. to stay is a full-scale uprising or a brand new government.
Nothing will happen
