Suffering from hypothermia, the baby was kept under observation for 36 hours. A CT scan revealed “severe hemorrhaging” in his brain, and the infant’s left eye remained dilated. Further examinations also revealed broken ribs and bruised fingerprint marks on one of his legs."
Just shook him my fucking ass.
Yes. Let's ruin the life of an already establish individual because an infant died. This makes so much sense. Let's put him in prison for 30 years where he can sit and do nothing. Sounds like such a good idea to me. Ugh.
Lets go with your idea, not punish people for beating babies to death. :downs:
It's all video games causing this obviously
This guy deserves solitary confinement for life with just enough food to keep him alive.
^ And make you suck at video games.
I'm sorry but there is no excuse for this. I have a few friends around this age with infant children and they'd never dream of doing something remotely like this. regardless of how repentant he is or how spur of the moment it was, this isn't something which can be brushed under the carpet with a simple admission of guilt. A child died, after suffering horribly at the hands of the man who should have been the one protecting it from the bad elements of this world. There's no justification for that
I'm not giving an excuse, i'm saying on how shit he must've felt, yes a child died, and he should be in prison. But he should be rehabilitated and not given retribution.

A baby doesn't just get broken ribs.
He should get counselling while hes in there and probably even once hes left, however you do need a certain amount of deterrent otherwise people will try and flaunt the lack of punishment to get a free kill.
You can't deter people from doing things in a fit of rage
I can't really sympathize but.. I don't know how to put it. Not everyone who is arrested for charges like these are bad people. There have been countless Mothers and Fathers whom have killed their children by accident in fits of rage or desperation.
If I had a dollar for every time a Mother drowned their child or a Father shook their child I'd be able to pay off the National Debt.
It's tragic, but having a child is extremely stressful. 24 hours of the day, every single day you're devoted to keeping that child happy and alive. Everything takes a back seat aside from maybe work. So you go to work for 8-hours or more, come home tired and irritated. You haven't had a minute to yourself to think, much less entertain yourself. Your wife yells at you because she was with the kid all day and than you have to console a crying child for the next three hours. You can't ask it what it wants, it can't tell you. It's a viscous cycle. Finally he's asleep. FINALLY and now maybe you can have five minutes to yourself. To nap. To work or watch some TV. Than he starts crying again and you SNAP. It doesn't mean you're a bad parent, just that it was too much for you I guess.
I think all Mothers have gone through that time where they call their own Mothers up and go "I don't know what to do, I have all these horrible thoughts I can't take it anymore"
It's really hard to have a baby.
Of course it means you're a bad parent. By definition you're an incompetent parent if you can't deal with a child. 99.9% of parents don't kill or even abuse their children. The ones that do simply aren't good parents.

He flipped and killed the baby by shaking it and neglecting to take it to hospital straight away. It's not like he systematically raped it every day or tortured the kid.

Sounds reasonable :downs:

I don't think you understand infants. They're quite small and very brittle. If you shake a baby its brain is easily damaged as it has an ill-fitting skull. Holding a baby too hard will cause rib breakage because its bones are tiny. Have you seen a baby before?

It's estimated that 108 billion humans have existed throughout history. US debt is 14 trillion.
12963% of all humans have been killed by their parents

It's not a much better alternative to have him go unpunished for that and loose with those rage spikes
You can't deter people from doing things in a fit of rage
No but you don't want other people trying to use that as an excuse to get out of a sentence.

Experts are able to weigh over the circumstances of a crime and determine whether it was impromptu or not

Considering we have trouble determining murderers as it is, I really wouldn't want to gamble it.
At least he tried to revive to baby
He wasn't that crazy, but he still deserved prison
Considering we have trouble determining murderers as it is
If you're about to claim that more people get away with murder than not, don't, because that's not provable.

he still killed a goddamn baby.

I have a huge family, 4 little brothers and a sister, so I have dealt with babies. No, their ribs do not just break like that, especially at a year and a half.
