Christian leader wants to tax atheists for not going to church

That's not a generalizing statement at all.
This is counterproductive. He says going to church is good for your health, but being in church always stressed me out. So he's saying I should do something detrimental to my health or pay taxes? That's silly.
The last time I went to church was for Christmas, and because I was so stoked for presents, I didn't eat anything. When I got to church, the incense made me churn up my empty stomach like nothing I'd seen before.
My mother stopped taking me after that.
Maybe from the representatives' own beliefs, but this would be the church directly.
They still wouldn't have to get a say, government could still prevent it.

Churches have lobbied and openly displayed their positions on issues.
People pay taxes, yet have little-to-no-say, so what's your point?

You vomited in church? That's heavy metal as fuck
Uhm...
Instead, how about we tax the churches?
How about neither, hmmm?
Does anyone know if there is more than just a correlation between health and community or is this just assumed?
How about neither, hmmm?
Why shouldn't we tax churches?
People get jobs out of churches and taxing churches would add substantially to our revenue.
Relax it was just a poor attempt at humor.
You guys are too harsh on this, it's one guy speaking for this and you interpret that as all of christianity.
It's like saying "Rush Limbaugh speaks for all of the American people."
It still demonstrates the drastic effects religion can(not necessarily Will) have on your sanity.
Bryan Fisher, of the American Family Association
fucking hate these cunts. they're the ones who boycott businesses that don't say "Christmas" in their advertising while simultaneously perpetuating the myth that there is a war on Christmas
Well we should tax all the Christians for not running ten miles every day. I'd like to see all those fat, god fearing, 'god bless Amurika' southern baptists do cardio.
Lets tax people smoke cigarettes (more than we already do)
Lets tax every driver because their car produces harmful gasses.
By the logic of these Christians, we should tax anyone who doesn't live a 100% healthy lifestyle.

Just thought it will fit here.
Also suck my big atheistic dick, Christians.
Wow that's actually amazingly fitting.
lolno
I'm gonna tax you for not masturbating to hardcore cartoon horse pornography.
Oh thank god, for once in my life, I will be tax exempt.

Yeah, and apparently they're labeled as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for making a large amount of anti-gay propaganda.
Well, I'm sure Mr. Bryan Fisher would be overjoyed if atheists started turning up at synagogues or mosques across the country and worshipped.
Oh wait, by 'church', I suppose he meant his particular denomination of his particular religion. Better tax everyone else that's not exactly the same as him.

“Because after all, Obamacare is all about improving the health of the American people,” the radio host explained. “We know that going to church is good for you, it’s good for your health. So we are going to mandate that you go to church for your own health and we are going to tax the atheists who don’t go to church.”
Well see a bunch of taxes already go to fund you churches; isn't that a better equivalency to medicare?
If you don't want to be taxed with medicare then we can stop funding churches as well, since you obviously hate taxing for health so much.

Seriously, in that quote alone is shooting himself in the foot with fucking artillery.
I can't help but feel he wouldn't actually do this.
It's like PeTA. They tell Ben & Jerry's that they should use human breast milk in their ice cream to be fair, among other reasons. Do they actually expect preggo women to line up in collection facilities? No. They just oppose the use of milk in ice cream.
In the same way he might just be grabbing attention, probably to slam Obamacare. Of course, it is the AFA, so you never know.

I, myself, think that churches should not have to pay taxes, however, yes, they should have to tell where the money goes.
And of course everybody goes "Oh Christians, your all stupid" while completely ignoring the fact that this was said by one crazy dude.
Seriously, stop being stereotyping pricks, because it's not making any of you look any better.
Wow... this almost or just like an old tax that muslims use on non-muslims long time ago... This is not going to happen as it conflicts with the freedom of religion act. If they did somehow got though this in, then I expect an Hindu Tax, Buddhist Tax, Scientology Tax, and other type of extra taxes for non-believers of <insert religion> to appear.
It will never happen because it's the freedom to believe in whatever you want, it'd violate that rule in the fundamental of human rites.

Freedom of religion act?
Freedom of religion in the United States is given by a Constitutional Amendment, something of greater power than an act, buddy.

i forgot how fucking ugly the default glass texture was.
How about we tax the churches instead? You know, all that property they take up that they get tax-free?
Our town has a church on damn-near every corner. The one down the road takes up a MASSIVE plot of land, most of which is parking lot. The tax revenue from that place would put some serious money in to the town.
And then earmark the funds for national health care.
"You can't tax us!"
"But you are doing the good Christian thing by helping people!"

This guy has always been a fucking nut. Nothing new.
What is you go to a mosque or a synagogue instead?
http://www.northwestern.edu/newscenter/stories/2011/03/religious-young-adults-obese.html
According to a new study by Northwestern University's School of Medicine, young adults who attend religious activities once a week or more are 50 percent more likely to become obese by middle age than their non-church-going peers.
Well at least I can finally go to Buddhist Monasteries.
There was me thinking that sleeping in on a sunday morning is good for your health too.
This won't fly, and if it does it'll be shot down with SAM missiles.
