let the ACLU deal with it, i trust their judgement.
If they have it in my area they're not tracking my ride. If they were they'da already sent us a fixit for expired tags months ago, it was due in April :v: Excuse us for not trusting the corrupt as fuck US Government. They've proven time and again they can't be trusted with $1.25 to get a soda from the vending machine, let alone technology that could be abused to track people. As for my thoughts on this system...surprised they didn't already have this database up. It's been a known fact cops punch random plates in all the time. Hell I'm sure mine have been run while I'm sitting at stop lights with a cop behind me. It's not like they're pulling random people over and demanding to rifle through their gloveboxes or anything, it's just automating something cops have been doing since they got computers in their patrol cars. I may not have anything to hide but I demand my right to hide it anyway. I don't want any random yahoo rummaging through my private life. It's why I don't use sites like Facebook, and why I'd decline a search of my car in a traffic stop. Haha. I've never understood the logic behind front plates. My tags have been expired since April. Nobody has given a damn.
I don't like the way your brain works.

As a matter of fact, they're trained to do it. And they're allowed to. I really don't see the problem though. You know they actually catch a lot of criminals by doing that? If the officer asks to search your vehicle it's because he had probable cause and had reason to suspect something illegal was or is in presence. I.E. smelling alcohol everywhere (DWI/DUI) or he saw a needle in between the seats. Even if you decline you know they're gonna search it anyway, that's how it works. And if you did nothing wrong, just stand by and give the officer his five minutes to check your vehicle. You have nothing to worry about, right? It's his job, if he has reason to believe something's going on then he'll look into it. But since presumably you did nothing illegal he'll be, "Alright here you go sir, have a nice day," hand you your citation and be on his way. Not all cops are stuck-up corrupt assholes, honestly that's just a stereotype. It's like saying all black people are criminals who do nothing but gangbang and sell drugs. Also, did you guys know that in my patrol car I had a little device that plugged into my computer and I could swipe your DL into it, thus, displaying all of your information automatically? That way I didn't have to spend time punching every detail and number in myself. Shit, we're really going way too far with this right? This can't stand!
