Does the install requirement mean "download fully" or "just click the install button"? Because I have very limited bandwidth and if I have to download the whole thing by today I'm not going to be able to get it :(

So I'm wondering: if my German friends wanted to get L4D2 on their account (when steam is back up) how could they prevent the censored German version from being subscribed to said account?
My first thought was using a free VPN/Proxy and just browse the Steam store in a browser, not the steam client when clicking the play button on the L4D2 page.
Can anyone confirm this? Didn't Australia also have this problem with L4D2?

Any browser should work, it will probably ask you

I think you just have to click the install button to register on your account.

well fuck everything, i wanted to get KoF from the flash sale but now i cant even load anything.
now valve is not only getting nothing for the free copy, but now paying customers are blocked. A fucking plus.
The store is incredibly slow, now loading, but now I can't redeem wallet codes I got for Christmas, because the community is down now.
Don't get all the hate for L4D2. Some of the most fun I've had with friends in any game.
So yea, this announcement is on the reddit front page two times, there is probably tons off people registering just for a free game.

How could they have possibly thought this was a good idea? Every time valve games go on sale, especially when they're free like in the Portal promotion, steam shits itself. Then they go and do it during a sale when the servers are already not enough to handle the load, and they do it in Christmas day when no one is going to be able to fix it.
I just wanted to see the new sales but Valve don't seem to want money anymore.
It's 12 AM where I live, the servers are fucked, I gotta go to bed soon, and it's probably not even free anymore the next morning

Oh wow. I finally go through! I finally got it to say 'Success!' and it told me to go to my games library.
And the game was no where to be seen :(
I feel they'll extend it, I mean they probably are aware some people might not get the game because of the troubles.
Tried enough times and it started downloading, taking a hell of a time though

Finally got into the store page, but the install button dosen't work. THEN I GET THE ERROR CODE MESSAGE OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE, GOSH DANG.
EDIT: Nevermind, the install window popped up afterwards.
I can just barely use the store, but the login page won't load and the client version is fucked.
It's taunting me.

We are gonna either see a large influx of players or a sudden increase in cheaters/hackers with multiple fall back accounts(though I've personally not seen it, it could happen). That or people selling Steam accounts with just Left 4 Dead 2 on them, which sounds odd.
