Darn, the steam servers go down just as I need to transfer stuff to a new laptop.

Wow, the store is back up for me. Also, I hit install and I got in to my account, but I'm not gonna install it now just in case that would add to what is slowing down the servers.

But many many months. If you think it bores you fast - are you just playing the same mode over and over? Same difficulties? That said, I play practically exclusively on Realism Expert and it's VERY challenging, especially on some custom campaigns - the pace of the game is totally different to Normal campaign or versus. Generally the people you see playing it will be good enough at it, if you have good games, add the people in it that weren't shit to friends. Get custom campaigns, there are a lot of them that are equal to or better than vanilla ones in terms of length and quality.

I've had problems with it before. Sometimes it can take hours for message to come through, or when Valve's email servers were down, 2 days. I was sure it wasn't just me because on other forums that they weren't getting the emails either.
SteamGuard is probably pooping itself right now with the offer.

Steam website and download servers are hosted by different places. You don't have to worry about that. But as long as it's now on your Steam list, you've got forever to install it.
(or as the argument against Steam used to be... until Valve go bankrupt and close down shop)

ok apparently just change URL to /?cc=US or /?cc=NL or /?cc=AT or any other country (except DE obviously)
and make sure the subid is 36144 and [B][U]not[/U][/B] 3614[B][U]5[/U][/B]
and you should be fine even without any proxies or VPNs
best way to check is if you go to /account and see if it says "(DE)" or not. If it does, you're fucked. If not everything went fine and you can enjoy the Uncut Version.

Basically it's the same as going through the Store, buying a game and then not installing it.
Pretty sure you have to install it, otherwise you won't get to keep it, and once the free giveaway is over, you'll have to buy L4D2 if you still want it and haven't taken advantage of the giveaway.

I had a blast with it, but for me , It just lacked that extra polish and It felt rushed in comparison to L4D. Again it did not stop me having fun with it and i'd urge people to get it if they didnt already have it.
Also, if i recall correctly, valve added a new way of installing maps which at the time was not very refined so the custom content was few and far between. It's a piece of cake but at the time everyone was use to joining a server and it auto downloading there and then, but the VPK's had to be downloaded externally, the addon malarkey causes issues for modders and clients alike. So it never really took off like their other titles and L4D2 suffered the same problem, but now it's got a dedicated modding scene all be it not that big.
i still feel like i'm the only one who thought l4d1 was a better game. it just felt more focused gameplay wise, and i felt it struck a better balance between taking itself seriously, and trying to be humorous
anyway, "better" is subjective in this context, and i still enjoyed l4d2

There are ways to get them into the game, easiest with cheats on local server
Yeah but I'm talking non local, germans get those weapons on any server they are on, I am downloading a *potential* german copy from steam, and am going to see if it works. Hopefully it does, since it is acting strange in the way it downloaded and it says "low violence" every time I visit the store, but it's almost done so I get to put it to the test.
