i know about all that
doesn't matter, no point bashing a man if he doesn't share your views
So Glaber, what happens to those who can't afford health care if this wasn't implemented?
You have essentially got 55 million people (taken from Wikipedia) and a considerable number of politicians, thinking you don't deserve the same quality of life as they've got, simply because you can't afford it. How does that make you feel? I'd be on my damn knees begging someone to end it all if I had to live in a country where such a huge part of the population felt no social responsibility.
Social responsibility is such a brilliant word to use here actually. Conservatives always go on and on about personal responsibility as their justification for gutting social services, oblivious to the fact they live in and benefit from the spoils of society daily. Perhaps its time they showed a little social responsibility.
Absolutely fantastic post, thank you for making it.

THEY GET PUT IN THE HOLE!
I'm not at all for universal health care. What I am for is welfare for those who would not be eligible for regular healthcare due to risk or cost. Nobody is going to cover a person with cancer. Another thing is that any program needs to be sustainable. I agree with the premise of medicare (besides the mandate) because old people are high risk and aren't likely to be insured, but I think the program needs a lot of reform and needs to be taken down more to a local level.
I'm actually very happy that Obamacare got passed because it allowed me to stay on my Dad's insurance. I found out it was $40 a pill for without insurance when my Dad's insurance expired, and I take five pills a day. Thankfully I found a non profit service that hooked me up with a lot of pills for free.
that is one of the few things i like about the bill
however, my dad stopped working right when it was passed so i cant get his non-existent healthcare anymore
but for the most part since the bill technically cant be enforced(the requirement to buy at least) and most people who dont have healthcare cannot afford it(so they arent required to get healthcare in the bill) this part of the law does very little worthwhile, its a waste of government resources
we need universal healthcare, not a requirement to buy from a private company

and i dont wanna sound paranoid or like a conspiracy theorist but i have a feeling the reason they didnt separate the bill correctly or w/e to make sure only one part can be struck down without the rest going under could be a clever ploy to blame republicans and opposition more
"yea the republicans HAD to push it so all the good reform went with the bad reform" if it gets more progressives into office with more chance of getting a uhc or single payer i really dont fault them though
