I'm not mad at Clarkson per se, but every time someone brings up 'political correctness gone mad' in the UK it tends to be racist nationalists that champion it, and I for one would prefer to live in a place where political correctness has gone mad than one where people are kicking in Bangladeshi kids
yeah I agree but those people are going to exist whether clarkson "encourages" it or not

"I'd rather yell HEY THATS RACIST BE MORE POLITICALLY CORRECT for no reason, than have a society where we are kicking in Bangladeshi kids" How is that justification for one or the other, and how are those the only two choices. Has anyone of you actually ever considered that it's possible that we reach an equilibrium where people LITERALLY do no notice race? We're a long way off I know, in America especially, but it IS a possibility. And before you guys think I'm insulting your patriotism, I'm not. It's just a fact that America is generally more social-culturally retarded when compared to Europe. I'll name a few examples, as to avoid a shitstorm: Etnisch segregation between blacks and white (and other races for that matter) is huge in America, much less so here. Europe is much more secular, a trend which America is following in a sort-of equal pace, but they are lacking behind. The acceptance of gays is much lower in America. That sort of stuff.
clarkson once made a joke about a child going blind and people said we shouldn't be offended because it's just a joke
oh no, how dare he make a joke about something that someone, somewhere in the world might be offended about! this just in guys, no more jokes, every joke, EVERY FUCKING JOKE ever written is at the expense of someone. So lets draw arbitrary lines in the sand to save people from offense. Not discrimination, not prejudice, just being offended, not even that they're guaranteed to be offended, just the off chance someone may be is enough for us to say "NO MORE JOKES!".

The manner in which Clarkson carries himself is seen as justification for a lot of racist people here. The reason I say I'd rather have the political correctness is because that's what it came from. People like to think institutionalised racism is a long time ago but especially in England there's some incredibly recent things

I just can't understand how anyone can be behind the silencing of people over offense. Being offended is nothing. Yet, we're almost willing to censor people for no reason.
I would prefer to live in a world where I can treat my fellow man equally, and not have to worry about someone having a stick so far up their ass that they can't take a joke.
It's not about taking a joke. It's about the fact that England still has an incredibly racist far right movement, and telling groups of pakistani and Bangladeshi people who get racially abused to just take a joke might not be the most wise thing to do I wouldn't mind if there actually was a joke when Clarkson does it, most of the time it's just controversy baiting with no actual humour.

Silence people who say things someone(again, this is arbitrary) finds offensive or possibly upsetting? How do we go about this in a non gestapo way?

Easy problems, easy solutions.

I now possess another racist word to refer to asian people. Thanks overly-sensitive viewers!
Some say that he makes insensitive jokes all the time and there is a wikipedia page dedicated to Top Gear controversy, and that no matter what jokes he make, or what people he make fun off, I will always love him. All we know is, he is Jeremy Clarkson.
this whole controversy is pretty stupid facepunch manages to take something stupid and overblow it to reach new levels of stupidity yet again all we need to do is get thisispain unbanned and maybe SH can reach critical mass from bad posts and create a singularity that'll suck up all the hate and intolerance in the world
To be honest I think this is political correctness gone mad. For example I never knew Japseye (Yes, the hole in your dick) was actually meant to be Japenese Eye, until a few months back, up until then whenever I wanted to mention it I said japseye.. I had no idea, and I think I would've been expelled from school and the likes for even uttering it. This is ridiculous, if people take so much offense to this then we might as well just live in segregated society.

Easy Step-By-Step Tutorial to a great and longlasting Society: 1. Everyone can say whatever they want. 2. Everyone can think and say whatever they want about what people do with step 1. 3. Accept there will be instances where you do not like the products of step 1 and 2 from other people, follow step 2, and then move on. 4. If just accepting and ignoring is impossible, due to danger of bodily harm or the freedom of steps 1 and 2 being endangered, then try to solve the matter with all tools at your disposal, but start with the least intrusive one first. Done.
The average level of public dialogue has gone up wonderfully since he left, though.
Yeah now instead of bad light hearted sarcasm we have more insults and death threats
you never know what you have until its gone.......
Who cares, it was a posed as a non-racist joke. I bet it was liberal illiterate, anti-white folk who considered it racist, i bet Thailand Asians didn't give a shit about this.
thank you for being the official spokesperson for every person of asian descent in the entirety of recorded history while also being the anti-spokesperson for everyone with left-wing beliefs, internet forum user killergam
Oh good it's milkandcooki now the real shitposting can begin
Liberalized society gone wrong. This mentality of "Racism" this and "Racism" that has got to stop. Unless you actually intentionally insult someone for their colour of skin or genetics it should not be regarded as racism. Racism is a word aimed at white people constantly and these days for no actual basis. Essentially it's an anti-white word, just like nigger is for black people or spook for Asians. Those that find a point to call someone a racist are true racists themselves as most people look past the color of someones skin and treat each other as human beings.
hah okay my first reply to you was just a joke but now i'm going to be more serious you know why words like "nigger, chink, redskin, faggot (yes i'm including slurs that aren't strictly about race), dyke, spic, negro, etc" are offensive and why we shouldn't use them? because they were the words that people used back when we literally fucking kill people based on something completely fucking arbitrary. why should we keep using a word that people shouted when they hung somebody up in public? why should we use words that people yelled when they beat somebody to death in the streets? just because you're too lazy to come up with a new word to yell at your friends? by going "who cares??? they're just wordS LOL grow a thicker skin!" you're contributing to the problem. these are terrible words, and your life won't suddenly end or become worse if you aren't allowed to say "nigger" to your friends in casual conversation anymore. use another word, there's at least a quarter of a million of million that aren't slurs with hundreds of years of terrible history behind them. [editline]23rd April 2014[/editline]
Oh good it's milkandcooki now the real shitposting can begin
nice one!
